Alex is descended from the Wasq'u (Wasco) people. He lives and works in Seattle, and commutes down to the Warm Springs Indian Reservation in central Oregon every week to learn the Kiksht language, and to help with the technical work of preserving it.

He works at Pulumi. He once worked at Heptio and Microsoft.
