Liz Vigil, M.A., (she/ella) is the Associate Director of Admissions for Orientation and Special Programs at The University of Alabama and an instructor with the First Year Experience at New Mexico State University. Liz is a proud first-generation Hispanic student and considers herself a life-long learner; she currently has three degrees which span the areas of Socio-Cultural Anthropology, Literature, and Higher Education Administration. Within higher education she specializes in justice, equity, and belonging, and how coded language impacts minority groups' retention and completion. Prior to her current role in Alabama, she worked for two large Hispanic Serving Institutions in financial aid and athletics and oversaw a parent and family program which served a bilingual community. Within NODA, she served as a member of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, a chair for the Multi-Cultural Network, on the Region VI Conference Committee, and on the faculty for the Graduate Student Symposium at the National Conference. Liz is also the editor of "Listos para la universidad", the Spanish language family college prep guide.
