CATMA 2024 Transportation Summit: Adapting to Change in Travel Behavior

Vermont is changing, and we need to modify our transportation network to the way people move around and connect to other cities, towns and through our State now.

Everyone is in a different place than we were in 2020 or even in 2022. How do people commute today? How are we addressing new challenges to sustainable transportation?

Attendees of the annual CATMA Transportation Summit include professionals from transportation and energy industry, businesses, employers, developers, residential site managers, municipalities, planners, non-profits, policy makers, regulators, academics, students, and community leaders.

CATMA’s 3rd Annual Transportation Summit is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the University of Vermont Davis Center!

This year we are excited to announce and release a Call for Papers for our Fall 2024 Transportation Summit.

Presenting at our 2024 Summit offers many advantages to you professionally and to your organization, including inspiring and helping change policy, visibility as a leader in your field, making new connections and reconnecting with industry colleagues, collaborating and forming new partnerships and one presenter from each session will receive a FREE ticket for the day’s events.

THEME AND TOPICS

The theme for this year's Summit is "Adapting to Change with Travel Behavior." As we see travel behavior, telework and hybrid trends stabilize (post-pandemic), our Summit will provide an opportunity to gather, understand and address the transportation challenges and needs in today’s environment.

We are accepting a wide variety of topics related to transportation demand management, mobility, sustainability, innovation, research, case studies in and around Chittenden County and/or the State of Vermont. A presenter does not have to be from Vermont. We welcome talks from communities in Vermont, New England across the country and internationally.

We also highly encourage people who have not presented at a conference before and those who are under-represented, BiPoC to submit a talk. We are seeking diversity in content.

You can submit as many proposals as you like, but each person can host a maximum of one session, if selected.

Here are some topic ideas for inspiration:

  • Mobility challenges and opportunities in Chittenden County
  • Community Transportation Experiences
  • Effective Cycling and Walking strategies
  • Equity and Transportation
  • Introduce your non-profit or community transportation group
  • Sustainable funding for TDM, transit and all modes of travel
  • Funding Shared Bike Lanes
  • Partnerships and Collaborations
  • Evidence-based research results
  • Innovative transportation and connectivity
  • IT role in transportation
  • Outreach, engagement, social marketing
  • Workplace travel programs and benefits
  • Behavior Change and Trends, Post Covid
  • Transportation Plans and Policies
  • Role and integration of TDM in planning, projects, municipal, regional and state policy.
  • Shared Services (carpooling, vanpooling, carshare)

We are NOT looking for:

  • generic business talks
  • generic "ways to innovate"
  • talks selling a product
  • talks selling consulting

SUMMIT PROGRAM FORMAT

The day will kick-off with a keynote speaker, followed by a general morning session and workshop. The afternoon will offer a variety of breakout sessions.

We want to give the stage to speakers and workshop leaders who have practical takeaways to share about transportation and how transportation adapts to change. This year, we’ll have two types of sessions:

 • Standard talk (25 minutes)

 • Workshop (50 minutes)

Presenters need to indicate preference in submission.

CODE OF CONDUCT

CATMA requires all attendees, speakers and vendors to follow the CATMA Event Code of Conduct. This includes all speaker content as well. Read our Code of Conduct for more details: https://catmavt.org/array-code-conduct/.

SUPPORT FOR SPEAKERS

We provide one free ticket to one presenter per session. Presenters are responsible for their own travel arrangements. For sessions with more than one presenter, we provide a conference ticket for one presenter.

The Summit would not be possible without our incredible community of transportation partners, business professionals, transportation researchers and research students, community advocates and legislators.

We hope you'll share your experience and knowledge by speaking at our Summit!

Take a look at talks from our past Transportation Summits for ideas on our YouTube channel.

DEADLINE IS June 10 at 12 AM ET.

You will hear back from our selection committee by the end of April.
