The Africa Internet Governance Forum (AfIGF) 2025 will bring together stakeholders from across the continent to discuss key digital policy issues under the theme “Empowering Africa’s Digital Future.

This year’s forum will focus on five key areas: Digital Public Infrastructure and Data Governance, Cybersecurity and Trust, AI and Emerging Technologies, Universal Access, and Digital Cooperation.

The event will take place from May 29-31, 2025, at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with pre-events (Day 0) on May 29 and the African School on Internet Governance (AfriSIG) from May 24-28.

The Africa Internet Governance Forum (AfIGF) 2025 welcomes session proposals that align with this year’s theme, “Empowering Africa’s Digital Future,” and its five key sub-themes:

  1. Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and Data Governance
  2. Cybersecurity, Resilience, and Trust
  3. AI and Emerging Technologies
  4. Universal Access and Meaningful Connectivity
  5. Enhancing Digital Cooperation (GDC, WSIS+20, OEWG, SDGs 2030 etc.)

We encourage diverse and engaging session formats, including:

  • Panel Discussions: Multi-stakeholder debates with diverse perspectives.
  • Workshops: Interactive sessions focused on capacity building and best practices.
  • Lightning Talks: Short, impactful presentations on emerging issues.
  • Roundtable Discussions: Open conversations with active audience participation.
  • Policy Debates: Contrasting views on key digital governance issues.
