The Academy Software Foundation (ASWF) Open Source Forum is an annual event that gathers business and technical leaders to share ideas, insights, and experiences to drive the future of open source software across the motion picture and media industries. 

Join us for an update on the progress of the Foundation and several guest speakers who will share their insights and experiences with open source software.  

Who should attend:

  • Executives, business, and open source program office leaders of organizations using or interested in open source software.
  • Technical leaders responsible for key projects or open source strategies within organizations.
  • Open source project leaders interested in learning more about the Academy Software Foundation.

Please Note: The Open Source Forum is being planned as an in-person event, and we ask all speakers to be prepared to present onsite.

We welcome submissions on any topic related to open source software for visual effects, animation, digital content creation and production. Talks should not be sales pitches or product promotions.

SUGGESTED TOPICS:

  • Pipeline tools and technologies
  • AI or machine learning
  • Virtual production
  • Open source software in production, including use cases and film examples
  • Open source program management best practices  
  • Emerging or new open source projects that are relevant for vfx and animation
  • Panel discussions on industry challenges or other prominent topics 
  • Diversity & Inclusion
  • Education and mentorship

Please note that this is an in-person event, and we ask that all speakers be prepared to present onsite. A panelist can be virtual though we prefer they present live not pre-recorded.
