Montréal AWS User Group is a community of nearly 3,000 developers, engineers, architects and cloud practitioners who meet in Montréal to learn from each other. Recent events have drawn 100+ attendees.
We're looking for speakers with real hands-on AWS experience. You don't need to be an AWS employee or a seasoned conference speaker. If you've built something, broken something, or fixed something interesting, we want to hear about it.
What we're looking for
Practical, hands-on AWS sessions from people who've actually done the work. Real architectures, real trade-offs, real lessons learned. Demos and live walkthroughs are a big plus.
Areas we accept
- Architecture and production lessons learned
- AI/ML and GenAI on AWS
- Security, identity, and compliance
- DevOps, IaC (Terraform, CDK), and platform engineering
- Serverless, containers, and compute
- Data, analytics, and databases
- Cost optimization and FinOps
- Migrations and modernization
- Hands-on workshops
Session formats
- Talk: 45 minutes, Q&A included
- Lightning talk: 10 to 15 minutes
- Hands-on workshop: 60 to 90 minutes (attendees bring laptops)
Levels
All levels welcome: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Please tell us which level you're targeting in your abstract.
Audience
Developers, cloud and DevOps engineers, architects, security professionals, data engineers, and tech leads. Mix of beginners and experienced AWS users, from startups to large enterprises.
Language and logistics
- Sessions are in person in Montréal, usually on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings
- English is the default. French is welcome too
- No virtual sessions
- This is a volunteer-run community event, so we can't cover travel or offer speaker fees
What we don't accept
- Sales pitches or product demos disguised as talks
- Sessions with no hands-on AWS content
Submission tips
- Give a clear title and an abstract that says what attendees will learn or take away
- Be specific about the problem you solved or the demo you'll show
- Feel free to submit more than one session
