Beer City Code is an annual software development conference held in Grand Rapids, MI, also known as Beer City, USA. Software creators of all shapes are invited, even those who don’t care for beer!
The conference takes place on Friday, August 2 - Saturday, August 3, and includes a VIP after-party for speakers, organizers, and VIP ticketholders.
The Beer City Code conference grew out of the success of its predecessor, Grand Rapids DevDay, but was renamed in 2017 to embrace its much more broad appeal outside the Grand Rapids area, and regularly attracts 400+ attendees.
What You Need to Know
Breakout sessions are 50 minutes in total, workshops are 5-7 hours.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 2: WORKSHOPS
A pre-conference day offering 6-hour workshops. Workshops should provide deep knowledge on the topic, with hands-on learning, and enough content to fill 6-8 hours.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 3: MAIN CONFERENCE
The day-long conference is on Saturday and we will be selecting as many quality 50-minute sessions as we can to fill the day. We are seeking diverse topics and speakers.
We'll alert selected speakers as soon as possible after the call for speakers closes.
What You Get
All speakers receive complimentary admission to the event and a thank-you gift. Speakers are also invited to our VIP after-party on Saturday after the event.
Due to budget constraints, travel expenses are NOT covered for speakers, but 2 nights of hotel accommodation will be covered for conference speakers from outside the area, and 3 nights for workshop speakers. We may ask accepted speakers to do 2 talks to help control accommodation costs. If you need more information, please email us at info@beercitycode.com.
Selected speakers will be notified by email as soon as possible after the CFP closes.
General Submission Guidelines
We look for the best content for software developers above all else - namely, any topics we think will be of interest to our attendees, regardless of who submits them. Sessions on all aspects of software creation (design, development, management, process, soft skills, etc) or any technology stack are very welcome!
Sessions that appear to be a sales pitch for a product or service will be given lower priority. Any profane, sexual, or unprofessional content will be rejected. Please review the code of conduct for guidance on any questionable content.
Blind Selection Process
We make our best effort to select sessions through a blind process that removes any identifying information from the submission so that only the best sessions make it in. We do, however, make an effort to have as diverse a set of speakers as possible, so please help us spread the word to everyone.
See above. Hotel covered for 2 nights for out-of-town speakers.
