The Bristol Commons is holding a Festival of Commoning at The Trinity Centre on Saturday 22nd March. There will be workshops, talks, films, games, creativity, collaboration, food and lots of fun for the whole family!
In the spirit of commoning and co-creation, we are inviting you! - your project or organisation - to propose a session/workshop to animate the day.
We are commoning and crowdsourcing the programme of the event, so anyone can propose a session. There will be a balance of co-creation and curation - so to support the offerings from around the city, we will be programming a foundational backbone of events for the festival.
The focus of the festival is:
Recommoning Bristol and Building Community Power
Proposals
We are accepting proposals for sessions from individuals, groups and organisations.
Sessions can be of any length of time between 15mins and 1.5hrs max.
Sessions can be aimed at adults, children and young people, or both - please specify.
The overall focus of the festival is:
Recommoning Bristol and Strengthening Community Power
Within this framing, we are inviting submissions on the following themes as main pillars of the festival:
Housing
Health & Care
Music & Arts
The focus does not necessarily need to fit within the boundaries of these pillars, and we are leaving plenty of space in the program for sessions to explore other themes that are important to you or your wider community. If this is the case, please select 'other' and detail your focus in the description.
If you are interested in holding a session, workshop or something else, please use this form to apply, or get in touch and let us know via email and we will help facilitate that with you.
Fees / Remuneration
We do not have the budget to offer fees or remuneration for sessions, but we can cover low-level costs such as travel expenses from within Bristol, and/or contributions towards childcare or pet care (van dwellers only) if this will support you to participate.
We do have a small budget to encourage contributions from people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, including those who are economically marginalised, from which we can offer stipends/honorarium payments (a small, token payment of appreciation).
If you identify in these categories please select the box if you wish to be considered for an honorarium. If your proposal is selected, we will write to you and let you know the value of the honorarium (based on the number of payments we need to make) and check to see that this is sufficient for you to be able to offer your session.
We can also cover some materials/resources costs, but these will need to be agreed in advance with the organising team, and you will need to submit photographs of your receipts for reimbursement.
Event Topics
Please make sure that you select the Event Topic that best suits your session, even though it may fall into several categories. This will help us balance the themes during our selection process.
