🎀 Speaker & Session Guidelines – Boise Software Developer Group

Thanks for your interest in sharing your knowledge with the BSDG community! Here’s what to expect and how to prepare:

πŸ•’ Session Format

Length: Talks typically run 60–90 minutes, including Q&A.

Style: We favor demo-driven, hands-on, and technical sessions. Think live code, terminal walkthroughs, or real-world case studies β€” not slide-heavy lectures.

Level: Our audience ranges from junior-level engineers to seasoned architects. Beginner-friendly intros and deep dives are both welcome β€” just be clear in your abstract.

πŸ§ͺ Content Preferences

  • Real-world implementations, theory, novel concepts and solutions, you name it! someone will be interested
  • Open source, cloud, DevOps, security, AI/ML, software craftsmanship, and developer tooling are all common topics
  • Vendor-neutral content is preferred, but tool/product demos are OK if they’re educational and not just a sales pitch

πŸ§‘β€πŸ« Presentation Tips

  • Start with why it matters β€” then show us how.
  • Live demos? Great! Just have a fallback plan in case of issues.
  • Leave time for audience questions or discussion β€” we love dialogue.

πŸ™Œ Community Vibe

We're casual but sharp β€” think "tech meetup after work," not conference keynote.

First-time speakers welcome! We’re happy to help you prep or run through ideas.
