This fall, the veil between the cyberworld and the underworld grows thin...

Join us on October 25th at the Kevin W. O’Neil Cybersecurity Center for a spine-tingling, technically immersive edition of BSides Colorado Springs. Whether you’re a pentester stalking shadowy misconfigurations, a red teamer blending into the fog, or a threat hunter chasing anomalies through haunted networks—this event is built for the hands-on, the hardcore, and the hellbent.

What's in store?

  • Terrifying technical talks (all ethically summoned, of course)
  • Two immersive workshops to sharpen your claws
  • A Capture the Flag event—prove your skills or perish
  • With more surprises still lurking in the shadows…

No keynotes. No product pitches. No fluff.

Just raw, real, technical content for those who want to learn, break, defend, and repeat.

BSides COS is proudly different. We welcome pentesters, red and blue teamers, hobbyists, threat analysts, students, and the simply curious. Whether you're seasoned or just summoned into the field—knowledge is for everyone.

So put on your costume (or don’t), bring your laptop, and get ready for a day of pure infosec mayhem—with just a hint of Halloween horror.

BSides Colorado Springs 2025 — Call for Papers

Theme: “Fear is the mind-key: Scare us with what’s possible.”

We want talks that disturb, unnerve, and shake defenders awake. Whether you're a seasoned red teamer or a student with something fresh and frightening to share — everyone is welcome to submit. If it's novel, technical, and relevant, you're in the running. The best talks make you feel like someone just turned out the lights in a production network.

This year, BSides Colorado Springs is accepting both 25-minute and 50-minute talk submissions. The 25-minute slot is perfect for focused, tactical topics or lightning-style research updates, while the 50-minute slot allows for deeper technical dives. We also welcome first-time and aspiring speakers — if you submit for a 25-minute talk and are selected, you’ll be paired with a mentor to help you build, practice, and deliver your talk with confidence. Whether you're seasoned or new, if you’ve got something valuable and technical to share, we want to hear from you!

✅ Ideal Talk Examples:

  • Technical talks that push boundaries (offensive, defensive, or adversarial ops)
  • Real-world case studies, breach analysis, or tooling deep-dives
  • Red/blue team war stories with teeth of the tiger!
  • Reverse engineering, exploit dev, malware unpacking, evasion tactic.
  • Creative abuse of protocols, cloud services, APIs, or identity
  • Workshops that are hands-on and get people building or breaking

❌ We’re Not Looking For:

  • Sales pitches, vendor sessions, or product demos
  • “Intro to cybersecurity” talks
  • Rehashed topics (e.g., “Social Engineering 101”). Clear, well-delivered, technical content always beats buzzwords and fluff.
  • Motivational or soft-skill talks without technical depth
  • Anything not grounded in real-world modern day security.
  • Bottom Line:  If we can find it on YouTube, chances are it will not be accepted.

CFP Tips:

  • Your abstract should clearly describe what the audience will learn or see
  • If you’re doing a demo or showing original tooling, mention that
  • Make sure your topic is relevant, fresh, and actionable
  • Show us why it matters and why now
