BSides Kristiansand is a community-driven cybersecurity conference on Norway’s south coast. It brings together security professionals, researchers, hackers, students and enthusiasts to share knowledge, experience and ideas.
The programme combines full-length talks, short talks and hands-on workshops across the whole field: offensive and defensive security, digital forensics, incident response, malware, threat intelligence, OSINT, hardware hacking, cloud and application security, privacy, AI security and more.
BSides is built by the community, for the community. It is a welcoming space for seasoned experts and first-time speakers alike, where practical experience, original research and curious experiments all have a place.
We are looking for speakers who want to share something interesting with the cybersecurity community. That could be original research, a technical deep dive, an attack or investigation you've worked on, a tool you've built, or lessons learned from something that didn't quite go to plan.
We welcome practical, technical, thought-provoking and unconventional talks. If you've been working on something interesting, we'd like to hear about it.
Formats
Students, newcomers and first-time speakers are very welcome.
We'd love to see more students and people new to cybersecurity presenting at BSides Kristiansand. You don't need years of experience or a list of previous conference talks. If you've got something worth sharing, submit it.
We're introducing a Student & New Voices track to give students, recent graduates, career changers and those early in their careers an opportunity to speak.
Maybe you've done something interesting for a university project, built a tool, found something unexpected during a CTF, investigated a security issue, or learned something the hard way.
It doesn't have to be ground-breaking research. Sometimes the most interesting talks come from people trying something for the first time and sharing what they discovered.
You can submit to this track or any of the other session formats.
We can also help first-time speakers prepare. If you'd like some guidance, let us know and we'll do our best to pair you with an experienced speaker who can help with your abstract, presentation and preparation.
Topics
Anything across cybersecurity, including offensive and defensive security, digital forensics, incident response, malware analysis, threat intelligence, OSINT, hardware and IoT hacking, medical and embedded devices, cloud security, application security, privacy, AI security, social engineering, security research, and careers and community.
If your idea doesn't fit a category, submit it anyway. We like unusual topics.
What Makes a Strong Submission?
We're not expecting a finished presentation, but we do want to understand what you plan to talk about.
Please include:
For workshops, please also tell us what participants will need, any prerequisites and what they'll be doing during the session.
We value technical content, practical experience, original ideas and honest accounts of things that went wrong. You don't need to be a recognised expert, and you certainly don't need to pretend everything worked perfectly.
Bring us your research, your war stories, your failures, your discoveries, your strange experiments, and the things that made you say, "I need to tell someone about this."
If you've got a story worth telling, we'd like to hear it.
