What is BSides?
BSides is a community-driven framework for organizing and holding information security conferences, a concept that began in the US in 2009. Because the call for papers that year for Black Hat Vegas was oversubscribed, a number of quality speakers were rejected—not because of lack of quality but of lack of space and time. Those unable to present decided to hold their own conference on the "b side."
Since then, many BSides events have been arranged in several countries throughout the world. BSides has come to be known as a conference by the community for the community. Events are generally inexpensive to attend and rely heavily on sponsorship to pay for the venue and other costs.
Because BSides events offer smaller, more intimate networking atmospheres and breakout discussions, they foster strong audience participation and overall group interaction. They create opportunities for individuals to both present and participate in an atmosphere that encourages collaboration.

Who can present?
All professionals and budding professionals in the information security field with something they want to share or teach are welcome to submit a proposal. There is no minimum experience or certifications required.
- 1000+ expected attendees for 2023!
- Several tracks of talks including a careers track and a new n00b track!
- 50-minute and 20-minute talks accepted
- Two training tracks, accepting full-day and half-day courses
Bsides is a great place to come show off your coolest hack, most clever defense, hunt kung fu, or any other relevant topic.

N00b Village
This year we’re excited to host a N00bs Village aimed at providing teens, n00bs, and students with a head start in infosec training and experience. So we are looking for talks that show n00bs how to do things, like:
- How to get environments set-up for training (what does a “build a lab really mean?”)
- How to get started with online CTFs (i.e. Setting up Putty and logging into OverTheWire)
- How do SOC analysts use open-source tools (e.g. VirusTotal, GreyNoise, etc.) to investigate alerts?
