Welcome to the other side of the hacking mirror. Blue Team Village (BTV) is a place and a community built for and by defenders. It’s a place to gather, talk, share, and learn from each other about the latest tools, technologies, and tactics our community can use to detect attackers and prevent them from achieving their goals.
Blue Team Village will be back at DEF CON 33 in Las Vegas! This year we're focused on interactive content -- panel discussions, conversations, interactive content, CTFs, games and more. Please review the session types before submitting, and help us bring hands-on, interactive learning to Blue Teamers at DEF CON.
Don’t forget to hang out in the Discord channels to ask questions, catch up with old friends, and meet new ones. Join the Blue Team Village Discord server, discord.gg/blueteamvillage
Come celebrate the other side of the hacking mirror with us. We’ll keep a blue light on for you!
Blue Team Village is ready for DEF CON 33! The CFC is open for the following content types (all in-person):
Panels
- The CFC is open for in-person panels, which aim to bring multiple perspectives and experiences to the table in a more conversational setting.
- Panels must consist of 3-6 participants, and should be diverse and widely representative of the community, including but not limited to gender and identity, ethnicity, race, and industry experience level.
- No panel can consist of a majority of participants from the same company, and should not focus on any specific vendor product.
- Panel ideas must be submitted with a full abstract as well as 3+ sample questions, with a description of the potential discussion following.
- No vendor pitches!
Interactive Content
- Hands-on or otherwise interactive content which allows attendees to gain practical experience with a tactic, tool or technique. Submissions must focus heavily on audience participation to be considered. If it looks like a standard talk, it will not be accepted.
- Be creative! Some examples include: live tabletop exercises with audience participation, “choose your own adventure” style content, gamified presentations, "ask me anything", walk-in workshops. Got a fun, interactive idea that isn’t on this list? Tell us about it!
- The idea is to get the audience to learn by having them engage with the content more than they would with a regular talk. Make sure to tell us what sets your content apart from a regular talk.
Tip: Be sure to include a detailed description of all interactive elements of your submission. Not including detailed information in the description will severely impact our ability to rate your submission and may result in rejection. Use the notes section to specify any flexibility, ie. if your content can fit different sessions lengths.
When submitting to the Blue Team Village CFC, be sure that your audience will walk away with the ability to do something new and blue!
