The Calgary Data user group (CDUG) is a local association that organizes events and activities to provide Microsoft Data Platform professionals with cutting-edge information about SQL Server and Azure technologies.
The user group is run by volunteers. Our membership includes database administrators, database developers, database architects and database managers. Membership and attendance of events is completely free. A typical event will draw between 10 and 40 members.
CDUG is part of the Azure Data Tech Groups community, as well as the YYC Data Community.
We use Microsoft Teams.
Speakers must be able to present remotely in our time zone (Mountain Time, UTC-0700). Our event starts at 5pm local time and runs for 90 minutes. Speakers will need to be available 15 minutes prior for their technical check.
We provide two session lengths:
All sessions should be about data, or data adjacent (for example, we have had deep technical sessions, as well as sessions about mental health, and women in the workplace). We focus mainly on the Microsoft Data Platform, but we have had sessions about other vendor products.
We have a core group of around 10 attendees, and have seen audiences up to 40 people depending on the subject matter.
Calgary Data User Group does not pay for speakers. You are volunteering your time to help the community. All sessions are recorded and posted to YouTube after the event.
