Are you working with Erlang, Elixir or Gleam?

Whether you're just getting started or contributing to core projects, your experience matters.

Join us in sharing stories, lessons, and ideas with the global BEAM community. No matter your level—if you’re learning, building, or teaching—we’d love to hear what you have to say.

Code BEAM Europe 2024 is an Erlang & Elixir conference with either 20-minute or 40-minute in-person speaking slots including optional Q&A with both in-person and virtual audiences.

This year we are looking for great talk ideas around the themes of:

AI & Machine Learning

Exploring the integration of AI and machine learning solutions into BEAM systems, and the evolution of connected Erlang and Elixir libraries.

Growth & Adoption

Strategies for convincing decision-makers to adopt Erlang, Elixir, and Gleam—while overcoming the challenges of team building and retention.

Real-World Usage

Case studies on deployment, DevOps, and maintaining BEAM systems - including tackling technical debt in production environments.

Scalability & Sustainability

Meeting scalability demands with a focus on sustainable, innovative solutions and green tech in BEAM-based architectures.

Gleam in Production

The evolution of industrial usage of Gleam, best practices and libraries to support the growth of Gleam-based products and the community.

But don't worry if your idea doesn't fit within those categories. We're always looking to be wowed by new and exciting submissions!

What are you waiting for? Submit your talk by 29 June 2025, and we'll let you know by 18 July if your submission has been accepted. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

We want to make sure our conference is as diverse as the community we represent.

TIPS FOR SUBMITTING

Never spoken at conferences before and are unsure if you should, and what should you talk about? Noel Rappin has a good article on this here: https://noelrappin.com/blog/2014/01/conference-prompts-or-how-to-submit-proposals-and-influence-people/

"1. A conference that was limited to only people that really thought they were the most qualified person to talk would be depressing, if not completely horrific.

2. You are absolutely the most qualified person to tell me what you think about a particular topic.

3. This is how you become qualified. You study something, you teach it to other people."

Which mistakes to avoid when submitting a talk? Noel Rappin also has an answer in this article: https://noelrappin.com/blog/2014/03/what-i-learned-from-reading-429-conference-proposals/.

In short: clearly identify your topic, be respectful of everyone, be interesting, but also self-aware, don't pitch your company, and submit early and often. We could also add to that - think if this conference audience is the right one for your talk (and why?).
