DatafestAfrica is an annual data conference that brings together data professionals and industry leaders from across the African continent to share knowledge and insights on the latest developments and explore innovative ideas and technologies that are driving the future of data. The 3-day conference provides a platform for participants to connect with peers, learn from experts, and explore how they can extract optimal value from data for their organizations with sessions ranging from panel sessions, workshops, breakout sessions, and keynote sessions.

We aspire to organize an event with a wide range of data-relevant topics that will engage and help participants harvest new ideas and insight for their own data projects. This year’s conference theme, "AI-Enabled Transformation: Shaping the future together", focuses on the significant role artificial intelligence plays in transforming our world. We aim to explore the myriad ways in which AI enhances strategic decision-making, improves operational efficiencies, and drives new innovations across various sectors. We are calling on industry leaders, pioneers, and disruptors to share their experiences and insights on employing AI to build a more efficient and sustainable future.

Our sessions will highlight effective AI applications demonstrating substantial business impacts, ethical considerations in AI usage, and the integration of AI with other breakthrough technologies.

We are excited to bring together a broad spectrum of speakers to discuss the transformative capabilities of AI. Contributions that address AI’s ability to foster greater inclusivity and collaboration, particularly in meeting global challenges, are especially welcome.

Special Track

Open Source Tools and Models

We've seen open-source tools like LangChain, as well as AI models like Falcon, have become game-changers in the AI and data landscape. They enable developers and companies to achieve great innovation and benefit from the collective intelligence of the global tech community. We are eager to engage with thought leaders and practitioners who are at the forefront of open-source AI and data initiatives. We believe that the open-source movement will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AI and data, especially in Africa, and we look forward to hearing diverse perspectives on this critical topic.


Submission Type

Talk + Q&A (30mins): Thought-provoking talk that drives in a core message. This session will primarily be virtual.

Lightning Talk (10 mins): Quick and focused insights that deliver key points in an engaging manner, capturing the audience's attention and leaving them with valuable takeaways. 

Workshop (45 mins): Technical dive into tools and techniques where participants are actively involved. This session will primarily be virtual.


Submission Guidelines

The details of your submission(abstract) will be included in the conference program, so we encourage you to present detailed information about your talk.

Your abstract description should answer the following question succinctly;

1. Is this relevant to the theme of the conference? What business problem is your talk addressing, e.g., How customer feedback data can help identify opportunities for product (functional area) improvement and drive innovation in Healthcare(Industry)?.

Kindly ensure that your submission ties back to the theme of the conference and highlights the functional area and industry if possible.

2. Why is the problem relevant to the audience

3. What is(are) your solution(s) to the problem, or are you simply pointing out the fact there is an issue we should be aware of

 4. What are the main takeaways from your talk? For workshop submission, this is extremely important; please specify what people will have learned at the end of the workshop.

As a general rule of thumb, an abstract is usually around 150–300 words. Try to keep to the limit. We look forward to reviewing your submission.
