🍿 Call for Speakers – DataPopkorn 2026

Have a quick data tip, demo, or lesson you’d like to share?

DataPopkorn is a great place for it.

We’re looking for short, friendly sessions that explain one clear idea in five minutes or less.

🎬 Session Format

⏱ Up to 5 minutes (we keep it bite-sized)

⚡ Flash Track: under 60 seconds

📹 Pre-recorded video

🎯 One idea per session

You can submit up to 3 session ideas.

If your ideas are accepted, you’re welcome to record one, some, or all of them - totally up to you.

🍿 Topic Scope (What fits well) - If it clearly touches real data work, you’re likely on the right track 🍿

We love sessions about:

✅ Microsoft Data Platform (SQL Server, Azure SQL, Fabric, Power BI)

✅ PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle on Azure

✅ Querying, performance, reliability, modelling, analytics

✅ Applied AI (for example: Azure + AI, PowerShell + AI, SQL + AI)

Probably not a fit:

🛑 Very general AI talks with no demo

🛑 Topics unrelated to data

🛑 Sales or promotional content

🍿 Content Style (What works best) - If it feels natural and practical, it’s perfect 🍿

Great DataPopkorn sessions usually include:

✅ A demo or walkthrough

✅ A real example or short story

✅ You explaining things in your own words

Please try to avoid:

🛑 Reading from a script

🛑 Fully narrated slide decks

🛑 Long silence, setup, or "let me just open…" moments

🍿 Attribution & Permissions (Important but simple) - DataPopkorn is a public YouTube event.🍿

By submitting, you confirm that:

✅ You’re happy to be named publicly

✅ Your session can be published on YouTube

✅ Social media tagging is OK

If you need employer approval, please make sure you have it before submitting.

✅ You keep full ownership of your content

✅ If you ever want your session removed, just let us know

🍿 Timeline (UK Time)

💡 December 15 - Call for Speakers opens

⛔ January 11 (23:59 UTC) - Call for Speakers closes

🚧 January 31 (23:59 UTC) - Final video upload deadline

🍿 March 9 - DataPopkorn starts streaming on YouTube

We need a bit of time to prepare everything, so late uploads can't be processed.

🍿If your session helps someone learn one useful thing in a few minutes, it belongs at DataPopkorn 🍿

As a fully online, community-run event, DataPopkorn doesn't cover travel, accommodation, or any other expenses.
