The Mauritius Software Craftsmanship Community (MSCC) is organising the sixth edition of the Developers Conference in partnership with local and international companies.
Just like previous years, the event is a free of charge, community-driven, three-days IT tech conference hosted annually in Mauritius. It’s an event full of business opportunities and professional networking. Attendees can learn about latest software development technologies, methodologies, as well as cloud features and infrastructure.
We have decided to turn this year’s annual conference into a Virtual Developers Conference for the security of each one of us. The reason behind a Virtual Conference is due to the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The public will be invited to watch the sessions live and direct on YouTube, with the possibility of placing questions to the speakers live. We intend to, of course, advertise the Virtual Developers Conference on all social media platforms, with the added benefit that, the conference being virtual and free, chances are very high our attendees turnout will be greater than expected and we will have an international reach.
Purpose
The aim of the conference is to provide local software developers a buffet of tools, practices and principles applicable to tackling current challenges in the Mauritian software development environment. From keeping up to date with the latest technologies and trends to tackling the challenges of working in large enterprise systems – it’s a buffet of experiences, ideas and pragmatic advice as well as an opportunity to connect with peers across the industry.
Attendee Profile
The event targets professional software developers who work in small to large sized organisations and who develop systems of all sizes for enterprise companies. The event aims to attract 500 to 700 attendees across industries such as financial services, web agencies, media houses, telco’s etc.
Code of Conduct
We expect all participants, including speakers, to support our Code of Conduct, the core of which is this: a conference should be a safe and productive environment for everyone.

We actively encourage diversity in our speaker lineup.
Regular 45-min session plus Q&A
We are looking for 45 minute slot submission plus some 5-10 minutes for Q&A. We hope the amount of time will allow for some talks to go into greater technical depth and give space for more advanced topics. Give us an indication of what length you think the talk would work best when you fill out your form.
Description
Extended descriptions of the presentation: main idea, subtopics, conclusion, etc. What will attendees discover by attending your session in 3-5 full sentences?
If possible, give us a reference of your proposal to an online resource or an existing slide deck.
Multiple submissions welcome
Absolutely yes! If you would be able to propose multiple session topics and descriptions that would really help us. Especially for speakers abroad this is going to increase your chances of positive selection based on better economics - a win-win situation for both of us.
Code of Conduct
We expect all participants, including speakers, to support our Code of Conduct, the core of which is this: a conference should be a safe and productive environment for everyone.

Ideally we would love to be able to assist all accepted submissions financially but the Developers Conference is fully dependent on monetary sponsorship. In consequence we have a limited amount of funds to eventually assist foreign speakers only. This year we extended our sponsorship tiers with a dedicated "Speaker Sponsorship" and we are looking forward to be able to offer this opportunity.
