DevFest Abeokuta 2026: Build, secure, scale: Developers and builders in the agentic era

event date

31 Oct 2026

location

Abeokuta, Nigeria

About DevFest Abeokuta 2026

We're used to asking "what are you building?" and we often mean code. This year we're asking it differently because AI has changed who gets to build. The developer's role is shifting from writing every line to directing powerful systems, creating products for impact, and at the same time, the door to building has opened wider than ever: designers, product people, founders, students, anyone with an idea and the tools to chase it.

DevFest Abeokuta 2026 is where both worlds meet on one stage. Every session should take attendees somewhere across the theme: help them build something new, secure it by default, and get it ready to scale to real people.

The festival runs as a single-day, in-person event in Abeokuta, Ogun State, one hall, one shared story.

Session Expectations

We invite session proposals that align with this year's theme, Build, Secure, Scale, organized into the three threads that structure the whole event:

BUILD: creating with the tools of the agentic era

  • AI/ML
  • Web Technologies
  • Mobile Development
  • Web3
  • Agentic Experience
  • Design & UX
  • Data Engineering
  • Product Management
  • Technical Writing

SECURE: building responsibly, by default

  • Cybersecurity

SCALE: taking what works from prototype to production

  • Cloud & DevOps

You just need to have something real to say, a hard-won lesson, a system you shipped, a mistake that taught you more than the win did, or a shift in the industry you saw coming before everyone else did.

Accepted Session Formats

  1. Keynote Talks (20–30 min) - part of the day's five-act narrative (The Shift → Build → Secure → Scale → Impact)
  2. Lightning Talks / Build (10–15 min) - short, fire-sidefireside interactive chat.
  3. Workshops (45–60 min) - hands-on sessions, code labs, that ship a visible artifact by the end
  4. Panels - multi-voice conversations, especially welcome for Secure and cross-track topics

Levels of Expertise

We welcome sessions for all skill levels:

Beginner - for students and first-time builders finding their footing

Intermediate - for practitioners with some experience looking to go deeper

Advanced - for seasoned developers and technical leaders sharing expert insight

Target Audience

Our audience spans five kinds of builders, and sessions don't need to serve all five — just be clear about which you're speaking to:

The Developer: professional engineers staying ahead of the agentic shift

The Aspiring Builder: first-timers ready to start

The Creative Builder: designers, PMs, marketers building with technology

The Founder: turning ideas into products

The Student: still discovering what they can build
