This DevFest season we invite you to reflect on some major shifts in the developer landscape. The role of professional developers is evolving from writing to reviewing code and orchestrating autonomous agents. You can do more, faster, with models and tools that are getting more and more powerful.
We welcome practical, engaging, and inclusive session proposals aligned with the DevFest 2026 theme: Build, Secure, Scale: Developers and Builders in the Agentic Era.
Areas of Interest: We accept proposals on Generative AI, agentic AI and AI-powered applications, Gemini, Google AI Studio, Google Cloud, Firebase, Android, Flutter, web development, machine learning, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, cybersecurity, data engineering, open-source technologies, developer productivity, responsible AI, data privacy, application security, system architecture, product development, and scaling technology products. Sessions demonstrating how technology can address real-world challenges, particularly within African communities and markets, are highly encouraged.
Accepted Session Formats:
Technical Talks: Practical presentations sharing technical knowledge, implementation approaches, and lessons learned.
Hands-on Workshops and Codelabs: Interactive sessions where participants build, test, or deploy a working solution.
Live Demos and Project Showcases: Demonstrations of applications, AI agents, tools, architectures, or real-world projects.
Lightning Talks: Short, focused presentations highlighting a specific idea, technique, or lesson.
Panels and Fireside Chats: Discussions on emerging technologies, developer careers, responsible AI, innovation, and scaling products.
Levels of Expertise: Sessions should clearly identify their intended level: beginner, intermediate, or advanced. We welcome first-time speakers, students, community contributors, experienced developers, researchers, founders, and industry experts.
Target Audience: Software developers, AI builders, students, designers, startup founders, product managers, cloud practitioners, technology enthusiasts, and professionals exploring practical applications of emerging technologies.
Submission Expectations: Proposals should include clear learning objectives, practical examples, actionable takeaways, and realistic demonstrations where appropriate. Speakers should share authentic experiences, including challenges, mistakes, security considerations, and lessons learned. Sessions must be educational rather than promotional.
Code of Conduct: All speakers and participants are expected to foster a respectful, inclusive, accessible, and welcoming environment, free from harassment, discrimination, and inappropriate behaviour. Submissions must comply with the Google for Developers community Code of Conduct: https://developers.google.com/community-guidelines
