Making DrupalCon Diverse & Inclusive

The Drupal Association is committed to a safe and inclusive event for all, regardless of age, body size, caste, disability, ethnicity, gender, language, nationality, physical appearance, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status.

We strongly encourage submissions from speakers who have been marginalized due to racism, misogyny, transphobia, ableism, and other forms of globalized oppression.

Submission Guidelines

  • Sessions should focus on sharing knowledge and enriching the community - rather than promoting products or services.
  • Priority will be given to sessions that offer unique content not readily available online.
  • We encourage experienced DrupalCon speakers to collaborate with other community members, and we warmly welcome new speakers.
  • To ensure diverse perspectives and well-rounded presentations, we encourage partnerships between service providers and clients and recommend that speakers and panel facilitators represent different organizations.
  • The number of speakers and panel facilitators per session is limited. See information in the session types section below.
  • To support diversity of our speakers and programming, we will only accept panels that include some speakers from underrepresented communities.
  • Speakers and panel facilitators may participate in a maximum of two sessions, only one of which can be a solo session.
  • Session meeting rooms will be equipped with projector/screen, dongle/adaptor kit for speaker laptop, and podium microphone.
  • Speakers and panel facilitators are required to read and adhere to the DrupalCon Code of Conduct.
  • Registration is complimentary for accepted speakers. Please note: each session has a max of 1 complimentary speaker ticket. Tickets are non-transferable.
  • Submitters may edit their submission until the submission deadline.

Session Types

  • Session (45 minutes): A session lasting 45 minutes allows for a more in-depth exploration of a topic, offering the opportunity to present a detailed case study, research findings, or an innovative approach. These sessions include one main speaker and optional co-speakers.
  • Session (20 minutes):  A session lasting 20 minutes, delivered by one main speaker with the option to include co-speakers. These concise talks are perfect for sharing focused insights, specific ideas, or innovative solutions.
  • Workshop (45 or 45x2 minutes): A workshop is a session where participants engage in hands-on activities, discussions, and practical exercises to learn and develop specific skills. Facilitated by an expert, workshops are designed to foster collaboration, problem-solving, and experiential learning within a focused timeframe. They provide a practical and immersive environment for skill-building and knowledge acquisition.
  • Panel (45 minutes): A panel discussion features a group of individuals with diverse perspectives discussing a specific topic or issue. Each panelist shares insights, answers questions, and engages in conversation, providing a well-rounded exploration of the subject. A moderator facilitates the discussion, ensuring a dynamic and informative exchange of ideas.
