Selection process:

To reduce unconscious bias, all submissions will be anonymized — only abstracts and titles will be shared for committee review. The committee of Elastic employees will review each proposal and rate it taking into account the following criteria:

  • Relevance of the topic to the Elastic products and solutions
  • Coherence and clarity of the proposal
  • Novelty/originality of the topic
  • Brevity and ability to cover the topic in the allocated time

If your talk is not accepted for our ElasticON Global 2021 conference, there may still be a fit within our other events and meetups. We will connect with you if we see a fit.

All submissions will receive a response by July 2, 2021.

Guidelines

  • Language: Talks can be submitted in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean. English will be the main language of the conference.
  • Talk Duration: When writing your proposal keep the proposed time frame in mind — either 15- or 25-minute talks. If you are submitting a panel, timing will be dependent on the topic.
  • Brevity: Don’t get too wordy. Your talk description should not use more than 300 characters.
  • Originality: Share your lessons learned, challenges encountered, and the moments of victory you’ve had in your development cycle. If you want to present a topic that you have talked about elsewhere, make sure it is focused on your journey with Elastic.

Speaker expectations

All talks will be pre-recorded for the virtual conference and published on our website for on-demand viewing after the conference concludes. We will provide detailed instructions for video recording if you are selected.

Required pre-meetings:

  • Editorial check - We may need to adjust your talk title, bio, or talk description. We will work with you and our editorial team to make some Elastic magic together!
  • Speaker briefing meeting - We will walk you and your fellow speakers through the recording process we use at Elastic
  • Technical check - We will meet with you before you record to check your sound and lighting

Inclusivity and accessibility

We strive to make ElasticON an accessible and inclusive event. This includes additional support for our lineup of speakers where needed. If there is anything our team can do to make ElasticON Global more accessible or inclusive, please let us know!

Code of Conduct

As with all Elastic events, we are committed to creating a safe and welcoming space for our community members, and to protecting every attendee, staff member and speaker from harassment. We thus need you to read, understand, and comply with our Code of Conduct.
