EmpireJS 2018

event starts

20 Sep 2018

event ends

21 Sep 2018

location

The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College New York City, New York, United States

Every year the Empire team ramps up, we try to highlight one of the things that makes New York City an amazing place to live, work, visit, and git push origin master in. This year we return to showcase the little language you know and love at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College this September 20 and 21. We're so excited that we're able to feature New York at its finest, and we're really looking forward to pushing Empire, JS, and Node.js towards another incredible year.

EmpireJS is not limited to just JavaScript-related talks. There have been sessions covering a wide range of topics supporting JS developers, and we encourage you to "think outside the box" to come up with your own unique topics.

Each talk is 30 minutes long with no audience q&a. That said, our emcees will usually ask a couple light, fun, and relevant questions after your talk while the next speaker prepares. You can always opt out of this.

If you choose to submit multiple talks, please do so with the understanding that they should all represent your passions and interests. These should be as separate of talk topics as you can muster. Multiple talks do not necessarily increase your chance of being selected.

To get the ideas flowing, here's a few suggestions:

  • Good ol' Javascript
  • Design Patterns
  • Development principles
  • Security
  • Design in Web Development
  • Microservices
  • Testing (unit, functional, etc.)
  • Version control
  • User Experience/Usability/ Accessibility
  • Building APIs (REST, SOAP, whatever)
  • Continuous Integration
  • Framework-comparison topics
  • Automation
  • PWA's / Service Workers
