Thanks for applying as a speaker for DevFest Pisa 2024.

 ___Session format____

There's no limit to how many submissions you can send, so feel free to submit multiple sessions. We will only accept at most 1 talk for each speaker.

We are looking for all kind of topics for sessions, but they should fall within one of the following:

  • Tech talk: a session about strictly technical topics in the field of IT and CS;
  • Soft talk: a session about non-strictly technical topics (we especially enjoy soft skills, inclusion, and diversity, but feel free to submit anything you think might fit).

If you feel like your session doesn't fall within any of the above categories, please contact us!

We will accept talks in one of the following formats:

  • Full: 40+5 (Q&A) minutes session
  • Short: 20+5 (Q&A) minutes session

You will have someone in the room with you to help you with staying on schedule, but we will ask you to be mindful about the time and to always leave 5 minutes at the end for Q&A which we consider a very important part of the session, and to allow for smooth handling of the event.

 ___Language____

We accept talks in either English or Italian. As long as it's in one of those two languages, the language of the session will NOT be a deciding criterion for a session's acceptance, so feel free to submit in the language that you are more comfortable with.

N.B.: We require all talks to have the title and abstract in the same language as the talk.

___Travel expenses___

DevFest Pisa 2024 is a FREE community conference. Regretfully, we will not be able to allocate money for travel and accomdation expenses of speakers.

However, if your company is expensing your travel and/or accomodation, let us know and we will list them as "travel supporters" on our official website.

___Tips___

We are open to hearing many different proposals, but here are a couple tips that can help you get accepted:

  • A well-written abstract and title is key to a good submission. We tend to prefer clearness to cleverness, but if you have a wordplay you really want to use go ahead with it!
  • Introductory talks generally work best for our community. We like to think that DevFest is an opportunity to learn about new topics and meet experts in different fields, for beginners and experienced developers alike.
  • Intermediate talks are better-received if they are on well-known topics (common programming languages or frameworks).
  • Advanced talks are generally harder to accept since we aim at topic accessibility, but if you have any session you think is worth it please still submit it!

We are looking forward to your proposal,

Thank you for your participation by the GDG and WTM Pisa organizing team!
