The 2024 Workshop is an event organised by the UPM GDSC in collaboration with EESTEC (Electrical Engineering Students European Association). This is an association of European students of engineering related to electronics and computer science. The event aims to bring together around 50 students, with at least 20 being foreign from all over Europe, appart from the local committee's own students. This workshop offers them a programme of courses aimed at broadening their knowledge in some state-of-the-art technologies, and enhance their skills related to each year's specified topic.
The event is supported by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and its Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación, as well as the EESTEC network through which has more than 54 branches across universities throughout Europe.
Several lectures and/or workshops will be given on engineering topics but especially on the main theme of the event: the rise in popularity of AI and the many applications it now offers.
In these sessions, participants will not only obtain theoretical knowledge on the topics covered, but also practical application sessions, reflection and evaluation of the knowledge obtained. In addition to all this, they will have the opportunity to discover our wonderful city of Madrid.
May be noticed that the location of the different activities during the event might vary across the days, including the facilites of the Google Campus for Startups. Also, a detail and a brunch will be given to speakers. However, further costs of allocation will not be covered.
The AI Days of the GDSC of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid is a one-week workshop co-organised by the GDSC and Eurielec EESTEC LC Madrid. We are looking for any kind of session proposed by the community for the community.
All topics are welcome but especially topics related to AI, or technologies that employ AI and Machine Learning techniques. Among the possible topics, some examples are large language models (LLMs), Ethical considerations in AI, advances in neural network architectures and data ownership, innovative and creative applications, security, etc.
While the focus will be on technical sessions aimed at the intermediate level, introductory and high-level sessions are also welcome, as attendees will typically be engineering students from a variety of backgrounds. We also appreciate workshops focused on practical cases, such us the use of an specific tool, or the deployment of a certain application.
Sessions will be up to 60 minutes followed by a brief round of Q&A. Then, the speakers will have the opportunity to take a snack with the attendees and organisers, which makes room for further discuss about the topic in a warmer atmosphere.
This will be an in-person event and you must be able to come to Madrid. Please note that unfortunately we cannot cover any expenses as this event is free of charge and is organised by the GDSC, which is a non-profit community of students. In case you have any doubts, please contact us by email at jaimevicenteconde@gmail.com
We strive to make this an open, safe and supportive environment for the diverse community of technology developers and researchers.
