Google I/O Extended is the community led counterpart to Google I/O, the annual Google-led conference where the world hears about Google’s latest developer solutions, products, and technology.
Google I/O Extended is a series of community led tech meetups, that bring the knowledge and excitement of Google I/O to developers on a city level, all around the globe.
Dive deeper into the new Google developer products. Google I/O extended meetups will bring developer content announced to life locally - technical talks, Q&A sessions, Google Developer Experts presentations, discussions with local tech enthusiasts.

We are primarily interested in the following topics, and will have the following tracks:
- AI/ML
- Cloud
- Mobile (Android/Flutter)
- Web
- Beyond (for example: Google Assistant, Design, Workspace, core/"soft" and other skills for developers etc.)
We are interested in experience-based talks. We will not accept proposals that are:
🚫 Just repeating documentation without your experience/lessons learned
🚫 Pitching/selling a company or a product. It's OK to mention your company, but it shouldn't be the main focus
🚫 Recruitment talks to attract talent
The format for regular sessions is 40 min or less in length including Q&A. Talks with another co-speakers are also welcome. 20 min lightening talks are also possible.
If you are a first-time or inexperienced speaker, you are welcome to request assistance from our organising team for advice on slides and for presentation rehearsals. We'd love to help you succeed!
All sessions must be presented in English.
IMPORTANT: this is an in-person event and you must be able to travel to Cape Town to deliver your talk.
Unfortunately, we won't be able to provide funds for travel and accommodation but we can try to match you with a local sponsor if necessary.
