INIT conference is back! As a group of volunteers and enthusiasts, we are proud of the past achievements, and putting Banja Luka on the IT/Dev community map, but we also move to the future.

The past INIT conferences had 500+ attendees and 20+ speakers from various countries and became the largest event of that type in Banja Luka. We are keeping the similar format, this year too. Thanks for joining us on this journey!

Thanks for your interest in submitting a talk for INIT 2026 conference! INIT is a developer conference held in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

INIT 2026 is a one-day event with 20+ planned sessions organized into three tracks. We encourage you to submit more than one talk (please no more than three of your best ones), but we will select a maximum of one talk per speaker. The length of a single talk is 45 minutes, so bear that in mind when submitting.

For the two main tracks, we will be favoring topics that are interesting to a broader range of audiences and not tightly related to a specific platform or technology. The third track will be dedicated to more advanced talks, with limited audience. Please, do not submit promotional talks. The English language is the default, but you can talk in local languages too.

Topic suggestions include:

  • AI and Coding Agents
  • Software design and architecture
  • Software craftsmanship
  • Design patterns
  • Functional programming
  • Game development
  • DevOps (CI/CD, version control, build tools…)

All speakers must agree to our Code of Conduct to be available to speak. You can read the Code of Conduct here: https://github.com/init-conference/codeofconduct.

Speaker benefits include:

  • Full conference pass (including lunch)
  • Speaker gift bag
  • Speaker dinner
  • Accommodation of up to two nights in a hotel in Banja Luka [1]
  • Travel expenses covered up to 150 € [1]
  • Flight ticket for those that are flying here (see the comments below)
  • Organized transport from/to Zagreb Airport if that is your only option for flying here
