Become a speaker

Do you want to be a speaker? Do you have an exciting topic, idea or experience you would like to present at JCON EUROPE 2025? Then we look forward to your submission!

JCON EUROPE 2025

JCON EUROPE is a Java-focused, in-person community event at the Cinedom Multiplex Cinema in Cologne, Germany.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, May 19th, 1300h - 1700h: Workshop Day
  • Tuesday, May 20th, 0900h - 1800h: Conference Day
  • Wednesday, May 21st, 0900h -1800h: Conference Day
  • Thursday, May 22nd, 0900h - 1800h: Conference Day

What we are looking for

We accept submissions for:

  • 45-minute standard conference sessions (please keep in mind that those 45 minutes include Q&A. The best scenario would be to have a 30-35-minute session with 10-15 minutes for Q&A. We need a 15-minute break between sessions to set up the next speaker properly and therefore can't extend your session longer than necessary)
  • 20-minute lightning talks, a fun and informative new format for JCON
  • 2-hour hands-on workshops (the speaker determines the number and length of breaks).

You can make proposals on different topics and thus submit several presentations. Your chances are highest in Core Java and cloud-native Java, which are our main topics.

Submit relevant topics: You will discuss things that conference participants found useful yesterday, today, and in the future. Does this subject matter have broad appeal and application?

We look for practical applicability: The content is important from a practical point of view, and you not only cover the existing problems/solutions but also share your experience.

What you get

Speakers at JCON EUROPE 2025 can look forward to the following benefits:

  • Conference Pass: All accepted speakers receive a conference pass for JCON EUROPE 2025, which includes access to the workshop day on May 19th. The pass is not transferable.
  • Conference Passes for your friends: 5 x 3-day passes for all conference sessions in the main program, which you can use to invite your colleagues, business partners, or friends to JCON EUROPE 2025. (These do not include the workshop day)
  • Hotel contingent: Book one of our nearby conference hotels at our fixed rate. First come, First serve—Limited availability
  • Speaker Dinner: All speakers are invited and encouraged to attend a VIP dinner on the evening of Tuesday, May 20th, 2025. This special event offers an excellent opportunity to network and meet with your peers from around the globe. Don't miss it!
  • Social Media Visibility: We also increase your visibility and offer you the opportunity to send us a video teaser, which we will distribute via our social media channels in advance. (More info about this in our speaker info mail after you've been accepted and our schedule is live)

Travel support

We are aware that not everybody can afford to travel and participate in conferences. JCON is a community conference, and in that spirit, we give free tickets to Java User Groups. However, that eats much of our budget, so we decided not to provide travel support.
