For over 15 years, the Java User Group Karlsruhe has been hosting regular monthly meetups at different companies in the region. Our events are open to everyone and free of charge. We cover a wide range of topics including the latest developments in the Java world, software architecture, testing, green IT, soft skills, and presentation techniques. We are grateful to be supported by various companies, who provide venues and catering for our events.

We are always looking for new and exciting talks that can inspire and engage our members. If you have unique insights or expertise to share on any of the topics mentioned—or something fresh and innovative in the tech world—we would love to hear from you!

Session Areas & Topics:

We are interested in a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Java Development: Latest features, best practices, performance optimizations, and new Java releases.
  • Software Architecture: Microservices, design patterns, cloud-native applications, and modern architectural approaches.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Unit testing, integration testing, test-driven development (TDD), and testing tools.
  • Green IT: Sustainable software development practices, energy-efficient coding, and reducing carbon footprints in tech.
  • Soft Skills: Communication, teamwork, leadership, and career development for developers.
  • Presentation Skills: Techniques for effective public speaking, engaging your audience, and improving your presentation style.
  • Emerging Technologies: AI, machine learningand any innovative technology in the developer ecosystem.

Session Formats:

  • Presentations: 60-90 minute talks, with time for Q&A at the end.
  • Workshops: Hands-on sessions where participants can work on coding exercises, explore new tools, or dive deeper into specific topics.

Expertise Levels:

We welcome speakers of all experience levels:

  • Beginner: Talks introducing concepts, tools, or frameworks for those new to the subject.
  • Intermediate: Talks for developers who have a solid understanding and want to expand their knowledge.
  • Advanced: Deep dives into complex topics, advanced techniques, or niche areas in technology.

Target Audience

Our audience consists of developers, software architects, testers, tech leads, and anyone interested in expanding their knowledge in Java and software development. We are a welcoming community for people of all backgrounds and experience levels.

Travel expenses

As we are organizing the Java User Group Karlsruhe in our free time and personally cover recurring costs such as bills or Meetup fees, we are unfortunately unable to to provide any travel expenses for our speakers. Most of our speakers are either local to the region or have their travel expenses covered by their respective companies when delivering a talk.
