Karl Haworth is a Principal Engineer and Product Technical Lead on American Airlines’ Developer Experience products. Karl started out as an intern for US Airways in 2012 working on IT statistics and reporting. After graduation, Karl joined the American Airlines Development Program for Technology (ADEPT), a program created to develop a technical talent pipeline for Information Technology. Karl has worked in many departments around American Airlines and recently joined the application development side of American working to improve life for developers through InnerSourced applications.

At American Airlines, we are working to modernize and automate the developer expierence. We have implemented Kuma on our clusters within the Developer Experience product to enable multi-cluster connectivity for our application teams as well as automate the application of Kuma policies within the service mesh. Witness how American Airlines has used Backstage.io to automate the developer experience and Kuma service mesh to connect our apps between regions.
