A guide to move your on prem sql server DBs to Azure

You're considering to move your on premises databases to Azure? Then this is exactly the session you want listen to! I will present you the options how you can move your systems to the cloud and what considerations you should make before you do so and why. This is a session for both architects and developers, touching points which tools Microsoft provides and what options you have in the move in terms of infrastructure as code respectively DevOps.

AI in use for the hearing impaired and deafs: new frontiers and limits

In this I am going to give you a demo of how Cochlear Implants may sound like and explain what they are capable of. However, this marvel of technology does have its limits, so I am going to show you how you can make your talk more accessible to people with hearing aids and deafness.

According to WHO, more than 5% of the people worldwide suffer from a hearing condition that need to be addressed in some form. But if you improve your talk with these tips, I guarantee that you will have a better presentation for everyone - because listening to a talk can be strenuous not only for the deaf, but for everyone!

Deep dive into the ARM Structure with PowerShell

This session is designed for specialists with some knowledge of both PowerShell and Azure. I will show you the benefits of browsing the ARM Structure for Services on Azure with PowerShell. This will benefit you for understanding the ARM structure, which is the background for the usage of Bicep, Terraform, Ansible and so on. With PowerShell, you have the possibility to really understand what is going on under the hood when you are using Bicep (or other languages).
This is going to be a demo of browsing and understanding the mechanisms and will require a level 400 as this will be relatively fast paced, but also in depth in many levels. I will not only show concepts, but also show code that can be used in practice instead of Bicep.

Deploying a SQL Server VM with PoSh: Southampton edition

You're a DBA and have been wondering if you should learn Bicep, Terraform or Ansible? Well, if you are already able to use PowerShell, I am going to show you a way how you can do an almost fully automatized way for deploying a VM on Azure, including installing software and restoring your databases.

This session will cover not just how to deploy but also give some tips on how to secure your connection to your Azure VM and giving you insights on pricing.

From stone age to data-driven tech for ears: a time travel

In this talk, I will take you on a time travel over thousands of years of hearing and whilst on it, I'll show you techniques that not only will make your talk more accessible to people that are hard of hearing or deaf, but how it benefits to everyone. I will demo, and the session will not always be too serious. Join me in a journey from the past to the present while learning to give better talks for everyone.
