Share your open lakehouse story
We're looking for talks related to open lakehouses and open table formats under the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) umbrella. Talks should be interesting, educational, and inspiring for a technical audience and should not be a product or sales pitch.
Suggested topics
Below is a list of topic areas the Selection Committee is interested in. Feel free to submit your abstract even if it doesn't fit neatly into one of these categories, or crosses multiple areas.
- Lakehouses in Production (Case Studies and Best Practices): Share your journey of building a lakehouse in the real world. We’re looking for talk proposals that cover everything from architecture design and initial implementation to governance, best practices and "lessons learned" in the trenches. Highlight the specific tips, tricks, and architectural optimizations that helped you scale and deliver value.
- Lakehouse Engines & Integrations: Technical deep dives into the compute and processing layers that power the lakehouse (e.g., Apache Spark™, Apache Flink®, Trino, etc.). Show us how these engines interact with open storage to deliver performance and reliability.
- Open Table Formats & Metadata: Deep dives into the formats that provide the foundation of the lakehouse—such as Apache Iceberg, Apache Hudi, or Apache Paimon. We’re interested in new feature developments, performance benchmarks, and "under the hood" explorations.
- Future Trends & Thought Leadership: Where is the lakehouse heading? Tell us your vision for the intersection of open data architecture with Generative AI, real-time analytics, and the next generation of cloud-native data stacks.
Selections will be made by the Lakehouse Day Selection Committee.
Session Formats
This year, the conference will accommodate a number of session types. Please choose the best format for your particular session!
- Breakout session (30 minutes, inclusive of Q&A): The standard conference talk format.
- Lightning talk (15 minutes, no Q&A): Shorter, more digestible format. Less is more!
- Keynote (30 minutes): A forward-thinking or thought-leadership session to present in front of the entire conference.
- Panel (45 minutes): A 4-6 person panel. Submitters must provide a list of proposed panelists and moderator during submission. Note that the panel participants must reflect the diverse nature of the lakehouse community.
Note: These session types are suggestions. The Selection Committee reserves the right to not select any talks of a given type or include sessions of a type not listed here. Some talks may also be nominated to be included in the main Community Over Code conference taking place on October 11-14 at the same venue.
