A PSO-LSTM-based residential electricity load forecasting model and leveraging residential capacity

Our Home as a Grid concept breaks through traditional limitations and makes how and when you use electricity more flexible. It is closely related to home life and provides optimized power management solutions.

With our home energy management approach, you can always use electricity, whether it is distributed resources such as rooftop solar panels, energy storage systems, the main grid or even your electric car to power your home.

Distributed Energy Resources (DER) is an umbrella term that includes distributed generation (DG) and other demand-side solutions such as demand response.

There are three key points in this definition:

1. DER is connected to the grid.

2. Anything that can increase the capacity of the distribution layer, usually 15 kV voltage level and below.

3. Demand response is a distributed energy resource (DER). But power generation, energy efficiency and load shifting (including recooling, electric vehicle management and energy storage) are also distributed energy resources (DER).

A virtual power plant (VPP) is a combination (or collection) of distributed energy resources that are actively controlled to benefit the power system, the environment and consumers.

The cost of electric vehicles, electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), smart thermostats, heat pumps, electric water heaters and other equipment is falling and the availability of models is increasing. The cost of providing resource adequacy through virtual power plants (VPPs) with load flexibility technology is about 40-60% of the cost of other more traditional alternatives.

We provide two new types of distributed energy resources (DER):

1. Perovskite photovoltaic products for residential use;

2. Induction cookers for kitchens with energy storage and demand response functions.

The induction cooker adds a change: text-to-speech (TTS) function for auditory guidance, embedding empathy into residential space and turning the house into a gourmet workshop.

Short-term power load forecasting is crucial for virtual power plants (VPPs), which usually refers to the prediction of power load data for the next few hours, a day, or even a week. In order to improve the prediction accuracy of household power load, a power load forecasting model (PSO-LSTM) was proposed using particle swarm optimization (PSO) to optimize the hyperparameters of long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network.
