Do you want to be a speaker? Do you have an exciting topic, idea or experience you would like to present at MakeIT 2025 or JCON OpenBlend Slovenia 2025? Then we look forward to your submission!

MakeIT 2025 / JCON OpenBlend Slovenia 2025

Oracle, Open-source and Java-focused, in-person community event is a three day event held at Convection Centre Portus in Portorož, Slovenia. 

The schedule is as follows:

• Wednesday, May 28th, 10:00h - 18:00h: Workshop Day (followed by Pizza & Beer party)
• Thursday, May 29th, 09:00h - 18:00h: Conference Day (followed by Gala dinner)
• Friday, May 30st, 09:00h - 17:00h: Conference Day (followed by Wine tasting & dinner)

What we are looking for

We accept submissions for 45 minutes standard conference sessions (Please set some time aside for Q&A and participant interaction within your 45 minutes. We need a 10 minutes break between sessions to set up the next speaker properly.) and 2 to 4-hour hands-on workshops (the number and length of breaks are determined by the speaker).

You can make different proposals on different topics and thus submit several presentations. 

Submit relevant topics: You are going to discuss things that participants of the conference find useful not only yesterday but also today and in the future. Does this subject matter have broad appeal and application? 

We look for practical applicability: The content is important from a practical point of view and you not only cover the existing problems / solutions, but also share your experience.

What you get

Speakers at MakeIT 2025 / JCON OpenBlend Slovenia 2025 can look forward to the following benefits:

• Conference Pass: All accepted speakers receive a complimentary three-day pass to the conference, including access to the May 28th workshop day. The pass is not transferable.
• Hotel contingent: Book one of our close by conference hotels at our fixed rate. First come, First serve. Limited availability. 
• Wine tasting & dinner: All speakers are invited and encouraged to attend a VIP dinner on the afternoon/evening of Friday, May 30th, 2025. This special event offers an excellent opportunity to network and meet with your peers from around the globe. Don't miss it!
• Social Media Visibility: We also increase your visibility and offer you the opportunity to send us a video teaser, which we will distribute via our social media channels in advance. (More info about this in our speaker info mail after you've been accepted and our schedule is live)
• We are pleased to offer complimentary shuttle service for all our speakers. Exact pick-up and drop-off times will be provided closer to the conference date.

Transfer to the conference for speakers

We know that getting to Portorož can be a bit challenging, so we're pleased to offer a complimentary shuttle service from Ljubljana Airport to Portorož for our speakers. Shuttles will be available on Tuesday, 27th in the afternoon, and in the morning on Wednesday, 28th.

Exact departure times will be confirmed based on arrival schedules, allowing for efficient group transfers for those arriving around the same time. The shuttle will take you directly from Ljubljana Airport to the Portus Convention Center in Portorož.

Travel support

We understand that not everyone may be able to travel and participate in conferences. As a community-driven event, MakeIT / JCON remains dedicated to keeping ticket prices accessible for as many participants as possible. However, due to budget limitations, we are unable to provide additional travel support (airplane tickets) or accommodations.
