Microsoft Fabric & Power Bi User Group Austria

planned future dates

18 Jun 2026, 15 Oct 2026, 19 Nov 2026

location

Graz, Austria

The Microsoft Fabric & Power BI User Group Austria is a community meetup for people working with data on the Microsoft stack. At our meetups we get together in the evening, listen to a couple of talks, and exchange ideas with others who deal with similar challenges.

Our Meetups happen in Vienna, Graz, Linz and remotely. Each event clearly indicates when and how (in-person only, remote or hybrid) it will happen.

Topics are intentionally broad. We cover everything from Power BI and Fabric to Azure data services and classic on-prem setups. Some sessions go deep into technical details, others focus more on real-world use cases or lessons learned from projects.

The goal is simple: share practical knowledge, show what actually works (and what doesn’t), and create a space where people can learn from each other without any marketing fluff.

Expect a relaxed setting, solid talks, and time to chat before and after the sessions.

If you work with the Microsoft data stack and have something useful to share, we’re interested!

We’re open to a wide range of topics across the ecosystem, including (but not limited to):

  • Power BI (DAX, modeling, performance, governance, UX)
  • Microsoft Fabric
  • End-to-end solutions and architecture
  • Real-Time Intelligence (event streams, KQL, streaming scenarios)
  • Data engineering and pipelines
  • Lakehouse / Warehouse patterns
  • Semantic models and reporting
  • AI capabilities (Copilot, AI-powered features, practical use cases)
  • Integration scenarios across Fabric workloads
  • Azure data services (ADF, Synapse, Databricks, etc.)
  • SQL Server / on-prem BI
  • Data engineering, analytics engineering, and data architecture in general
  • Real-world project insights, lessons learned, and trade-offs

Beginner-friendly sessions are just as welcome as deep dives.
A solid intro that helps people get started is just as valuable as a highly specialized topic.

Session Format

  • Ideally 60 minutes
  • Also fine: 30 or 45 minutes (we usually combine two shorter talks into one evening)
  • Languages: German or English

What makes a good submission

  • Clear focus: what problem are you solving?
  • Clear takeaway: what will people walk away with?
  • Practical > theoretical
  • Real examples, demos, or lessons learned
  • Honest insights (including things that didn’t work)

A note on community expectations

We aim for a respectful, inclusive, and practical learning environment.

That means:

  • Treating others professionally and constructively
  • Staying focused on the topic and respecting different approaches and opinions
  • Prioritizing knowledge sharing over promotion

Please also check our Code of Conduct.

Speaker Support & Logistics

We’re a small, community-driven and volunteer user group. That means we unfortunately can’t cover travel expenses, accommodation, or offer compensation for speaking.

What we can offer:
  • A supportive and engaged audience
  • A relaxed environment to share your experience
  • Visibility within the local data community
If you’re new to speaking, don’t hesitate to submit anyway. We’re happy to support you with preparation, feedback on your abstract, or a quick dry run before the event if needed!
