2026 myPITA Fall Conference Call for Workshop Proposals

Apply to present at the Provincial Intermediate and Middle Years Teachers' Association (myPITA) 2026 Fall PSA Day Conference on Friday, October 23, 2026. This conference will be delivered in person in Metro Vancouver and online. Stay tuned for the location announcement. Presenters may deliver their workshops online, in person, or twice – once online and once in person. The standard session length is 75 minutes.

Workshop applications are accepted until noon on March 6, 2026. Workshops presented at the myPITA Fall Conference are a combination of lectures and hands-on experiential learning, delivering relevant information, techniques, and resources, with lessons that can be immediately implemented and applied in classrooms across the province. Workshops can cover any subject or topic relevant to Grades 4–9 and middle school teachers. Teachers must be able to implement the concepts presented in the workshop without purchasing any resources; therefore, workshops that are promotional or that sell a product or service are not accepted.

Share your passions and expertise with others and enjoy the perks of being a presenter, including:

  • An honorarium
  • BCTF members may receive complimentary conference registration and a myPITA membership
  • Reimbursement for travel expenses for eligible teacher-presenters.

Questions or concerns, please contact Conference Coordinator, Kristina, at conference@pita.ca.

2026 Fall Conference presenter honorariums

Types of Presenters

Presenters are anyone delivering a workshop.

Teacher-presenters are currently employed teachers by a BC school district or independent school and contracted by their employer to work on the presentation day.

Sponsored presenters are individuals who are paid or volunteer to deliver or facilitate workshop presentations on behalf of an organization.

Contract presenters are presenters who do not meet the definitions of teacher-presenters and sponsored presenters. myPITA pays contract presenters a negotiated fee per workshop.

In-person and on-site presenters deliver their workshops at a conference site provided by myPITA.

Offsite presenters deliver an online workshop from any location with reliable high-speed Internet, and the location is not provided or paid for by myPITA, eg, home, school, etc.

Workshop Standards

Presenters are expected to deliver workshops that exemplify best teaching practices related to the BC curriculum. Workshop sessions may not sell or promote a product or service that teachers are required to purchase to implement the concepts presented in the workshop. Presenters should not promote resources on Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) or sites that charge teachers to access their resources.

Presenters, whether teachers or not, are expected to uphold the values of the Professional Standards for BC Educators. Presenters will not disparage another teacher, presenter, or organization’s practice or resources.

Presentations sharing information about artificial intelligence, technology, and/or controversial and sensitive subject areas must include guidance about ethical, safety, and professional considerations and hazards that teachers should consider before implementing them in their classrooms.

Workshop Delivery Formats

75% of myPITA’s Fall 2026 conference audience attended online. Preference will be given to presenters who will deliver workshops online. Online presenters may use their own professional Zoom account, or myPITA will provide a paid Zoom account for you to use.

Presenters who deliver in-person and online workshops will, when possible, present both workshops in the same room. If it is not feasible for a presenter to present in the same room, a minimum of 30 minutes will be allotted for the presenter to transfer to an alternative location.

Proposed Schedule

Workshops are 75 minutes. The proposed schedule for the day is:

Session A 8:45 AM - 10:00 AM
Session B 10:15 AM - 11:30 AM
Lunch
Session C 12:30 PM - 1:45 PM
Session D 2:00 PM - 3:15 PM

Conference Registration

A maximum of two presenters per workshop may receive complimentary in-person or online conference registration.

Complimentary myPITA Membership

All active BCTF member teacher-presenters will receive a complimentary one-year myPITA membership.

Presenter Technology

Presenters are responsible for supplying a laptop with sufficient performance to present their in-person workshop. The laptop must have an HDMI or USB-C port to connect to the on-site audiovisual technology, including the projector and sound system. If the laptop lacks an HDMI port, the presenter is responsible for bringing a USB-C-to-HDMI adapter.

Offsite presenters are responsible for providing reliable high-speed internet at their own expense.

Online presenters are responsible for creating, logging in, and updating their Zoom account at least 72 hours before their workshop presentation. Online presenters must have a Zoom account associated with the email address they provided when they applied to present. The Zoom account may be a free or paid Zoom account. Online presenters may use their own professional Zoom account to create a Zoom meeting for their workshop, or myPITA will provide a Zoom meeting for you to use to deliver your workshop.

Workshop Honorariums

Teacher-presenters are eligible for the workshop honorarium. The honorarium is paid per workshop and not per presenter. If there are multiple presenters, the lead presenter will receive the honorarium and be responsible for sharing the honorarium.

The 2026 myPITA honorarium rate is $200.00 per 75-minute workshop and $250 per half-day workshop.

Sponsored presenters and contract presenters are not eligible for the honorarium.

Teacher-presenters who request a fee exceeding the honorarium will be classified as contract presenters. myPITA requests that the presenter request an unpaid leave of absence from their employer for the day of the presentation, on the principle that a presenter should not be paid twice.

Workshop Fees

Teacher-presenters are not paid a workshop fee.

Contract presenters are paid the contracted and invoiced fee.

Sponsored presenters may request a workshop fee only if grant funding does not cover their presentation expenses.

Contract presenters and sponsor presenters do not receive a complimentary myPITA membership or conference registration.

Travel Reimbursement Eligibility

Contract presenters and sponsored presenters are not eligible for travel reimbursement.

All presenters are encouraged to travel by public or active transit to the conference site. There is nearby paid parking.

Eligible teacher-presenters may have their travel expenses reimbursed. Eligibility for teacher-presenters to receive travel reimbursement requires that the teacher-presenter:

• Deliver at least three (3) in-person workshops at the conference site.

• Live more than 100 km from the conference site.

If eligible, teacher-presenters will be reimbursed for:

• A single round-trip car trip from the teacher-presenters' home to the conference location will be reimbursed at BCTF mileage rates.

• Economy accommodation based on a double-occupancy hotel room. To be determined, myPITA may arrange and pay for a hotel room.

• Return-trip, economy airfare or ferry fare. To be determined, myPITA may arrange and pay for airfare.

• Meals based on the BCTF per diem rates and policies.

• Co-presenting presenters are required to carpool to the conference site with the lead presenter. If eligible, only the lead presenter will receive a travel reimbursement and paid or reimbursed accommodations.
