SARCON 2024 is looking for this year's presenters!

Our primary audience is professional SAR volunteers whose time is extraordinarily precious and valuable. Our secondary audience is professional agency personnel from law enforcement, fire/rescue, Urban SAR task forces and emergency management.

We are looking for presenters to provide "TED" style presentations. What does that mean? It means 25-30 minute focused presentations on your topic of expertise!

We are seeking out speakers who are highly versed and experienced in their topic area. They should have experience that the average SAR responder will not have access to normally. Speakers should also have knowledge and skills that the average SAR responder may never have visibility to.

We want lessons from your experience! We want new viewpoints on old topics, without beating dead horses. We want to attempt to address regional issues, but in context so everyone can learn something from the discussion.

There are no topics/discussions that we wish to prevent, however we demand all presentations be respectful of the SAR responders, SAR experience, and missing subjects.

Suggested topics we are looking for include:

  • Innovations in Search and Rescue Technology: Focusing on the latest technological advancements, such as drones, GPS tracking, and specialized equipment that enhance search and rescue operations.
  • Building Resilient SAR Teams: Emphasizing the importance of mental health, physical fitness, and team dynamics in the demanding environment of search and rescue.
  • Navigating Challenging Environments: Addressing strategies and techniques for SAR in various terrains, from dense forests and mountains to urban landscapes and water-based environments.
  • Global Collaboration in SAR: Encouraging international cooperation and sharing of resources, knowledge, and best practices among SAR organizations worldwide.
  • Disaster Response and Preparedness: Exploring the role of SAR teams in disaster scenarios like earthquakes, floods, and other natural or man-made disasters.
  • SAR training and Education: Showcasing effective training methodologies, simulation technologies, and educational programs to prepare new SAR personnel.
  • Community Engagement and SAR Awareness: Highlighting the importance of public awareness, volunteer involvement, and community support in successful SAR operations.
  • Future of SAR: Predictions and Trends: Discussing emerging trends, future challenges, and predictions about the evolution of search and rescue in the coming years.
  • SAR Safety and Risk Management: Focusing on strategies for minimizing risks to SAR teams, including safety equipment, protocols, and situational awareness.
  • Integrating SAR with Emergency Services: Exploring collaborations between SAR teams and other emergency services like fire departments, police, and medical services for a more effective response.

Each presenter is allowed to submit up to 3 unique submissions each. All submissions must have been made by 29 February 2024.

Do you have a topic or idea you would like to share? Do you have an idea or case you think would be interesting with a good lesson learned? If so, we want to hear it!
