Newcastle Power BI User Group: Community Month Christmas Special!

event date

14 Dec 2023

location

The Catalyst, Helix, Science Square, Newcastle upon Tyne NE4 5TG Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom

Ho Ho Ho! It's time for the Newcastle Power BI User Group Christmas Special, and this time - it's your turn to shine!

Ever watched some of our speakers share and amaze and thought you'd like to give it a go? This Community Month special is the perfect time to take the plunge and transform from attendee to speaker.

We're hosting a new speakers only* event in December called "Community Month", where we give you the chance at speaking. Sessions can be technical or non-technical, (if technical, should relate to Power BI as much as possible).

Sessions should be in lightning talk format of strictly 20 minutes, including Q&A.

Any questions? Please email datalakin1@gmail.com any queries.

*To be eligible as a "new speaker", you should not have recently spoken at any other user group or conference.

Sessions should follow the below criteria:

  • No longer than 20 mins (including Q&A)
  • If a technical session, relevant to Power BI / Fabric
  • If a non-technical session, relevant to working in data / analytics
  • Can include slides, demos and any other visual aids deemed necessary

Outside of this, show your creativity! This is all about trying speaking out for the first time, so don't worry if your content isn't the most polished or technically ground-breaking!

For example, you could showcase a quirk you found in a specific DAX function, or describe a successful use case for calculation groups, or how best to build dataflows. The possibilities are endless!

If you need some help writing a session abstract, please take a look at this great blog from Benni De Jagere: https://bennidejagere.com/2023/04/setting-yourself-up-for-success-when-submitting-to-a-conference/

2 submissions allowed per speaker.
