NetHope is inviting you to join some of the world’s largest nonprofits and leading technology companies for our 20th Anniversary Summit. This eagerly anticipated event will be held virtually on 15 to 19 November and will be attended by representatives from NetHope’s world-changing Members and ground-breaking partners, as well as leading international organizations.
The Summit, the only event of its kind, brings together about 60 of the world’s leading nonprofits together with innovative technology companies and world-leading international organizations under one common vision: using collective action and the power of technology to tackle some of the greatest challenges facing humankind.
Last year’s virtual Summit brought together almost 1,400 individuals from over 100 countries. Nonprofit CEOs with their chief information executives and senior level IT experts joined us, alongside those working in field offices and programs, all of whom help provide contextual validation for the humanitarian and conservation solutions shared. They were joined by senior private sector technologists, and representatives from funders and governments, creating a truly rich space for collaboration and ideation.
As one NetHope Member said of last year’s Global Summit: “NetHope Summit remains the best opportunity to understand what's going on in the broader NGO technology space.”
At this year’s keystone event, our diverse, global community will gather together to celebrate and build on 20 years of impact, partnership, and collective action. And we will boldly look to the future to identify the strategies and solutions that will positively transform the lives of millions of individuals around the world.
Our innovative format, which builds on our years of collaborative success, offers one-on-one and small group interaction, accessible content available live and on-demand, and multiple opportunities to deeply engage with a broad and diverse community of entrepreneurial and passionate individuals. And our community overwhelmingly say it helps them to achieve more impact.
The NetHope 20th Anniversary Global Summit is a singular opportunity to network, to learn, to connect, to collaborate and to get inspired. Mark your calendars for November 15-19, 2021!
The NetHope Global Summit is a collaborative effort with our Members and Partners, and we need your help to shape the agenda. To submit a proposal to speak at the Summit, please complete your entry by August 6th 2021 11:59 UTC.
Summit 2021 Track Definitions
Delivering new digital impact
The world of technology is constantly changing. NetHope Members and the nonprofit sector at large need to adapt to these changes in order to leverage new ways of delivering digital impact.
This track will showcase some of these new digital options, from Using IoT, Cryptocurrency and AI Ethics, to Satellite communications and No Code apps to mention just a few. This will be a place for Members to share and learn from one another to improve their technology tools and ultimately to use these tools to have greater impact in their programs. Members will be introduced to or trained in new tools and emerging technologies that will support their technology strategic planning and result in better impact or delivery of their programs.
Better together: the power of partnerships
This track will explore the true power of strategic alliances and the key questions underpinning successful partnerships. Partnerships take many forms. It may be a group of NGOs working alongside each other and leveraging different skills, assets and connections, or it could be public/private partnerships that do the same but honor ‘enlightened self-interest' needs of various players and stakeholders.
But how do you know when a partnership is better than going it alone? And, if a partnership is better, how do you pick the partners? How do you hold all parties accountable? How do you balance the different needs and agendas of different parties? And how do you tell the world in a way that shines the light on the beneficiary good as well as the partners in a balanced way? This and much more will be available to you as an interactive learning and sharing track.
Digital action for climate, sustainability, and resilience
This track will consist of sessions and learnings on information technologies and systems that help ensure environmental sustainability.
We will explore a wide range of topics, from projects on maintaining biodiversity, geospatial conservation and climate data influencing humanitarian aid to projects delivering access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation. Organizations will share successes and obstacles in their use of digital solutions. We will also have space to discuss specific problems needing to be addressed, opening space for attendees to ideate possible digital solutions. This track aims to share information that will inspire NetHope Members to take action through technology to address the many environmental challenges facing our planet and its people.
Furthering justice, opportunity, and inclusion through digital
Great milestones have been made in the quest to close the digital divide and foster inclusion, particularly for women and girls. The Covid-19 pandemic accelerated the need for everyone to become digital – with access to essential services such as education, medical help and health information all becoming virtual. This laid bare the level of exclusion and inequality those without access to the internet and technology face.
Infrastructure continues to be a key impediment, and access to digital devices and lack of digital skills also continue to widen the digital and social inclusion gap. While technology can create an opportunity for inclusion, it needs an enabling and collaborative ecosystem between the public and private sector to be effective and provide a level playing field to undeserved communities.
The opportunity of now: change and the new work
Are you ready? Are our teams and beneficiaries ready? The Covid-19 pandemic drastically changed our approach to work and forced organizations across the world to rapidly transform their work environments.
Right now, we have a unique opportunity to intentionally rethink the way we work and how we connect and secure our resources to exponentially increase the impact we have in the communities we serve. This track will focus on information age work patterns and how we can utilize data and analytics to make informed decisions, empower employees with digital and data literacy, reimagine field support to develop better programs, mitigate risks, and scale benefits for greater impact using technology. From digital preparedness to hybrid-work and low-cost connectivity all around the world, you will find ideas to unlock this new potential – buckle up.
