Do you have a spooky story about debugging gone wrong? A piece of open source magic to share? A haunted legacy system you finally exorcised?
We want YOU to speak at Nightmare Before Coding, a Halloween-themed open source event hosted by Schrödinger’s Hat and Gadfly Open Source Collective at the brand-new Tessl HQ in London!
🗣 What We’re Looking For
We want talks and workshops that are fun, educational, and fit into one of our tracks:
Open Source Magic – clever hacks, OSS success stories, or unique projects
Scary Good Practices – security, privacy, and things that go bump in the code
Haunted Systems – tech debt, legacy code, or weird debugging tales
Collaboration & Community – building inclusive, creative open source spaces
📢 Session Formats
Choose one (or more) session types:
10-Minute Talks (Main Stage)
→ 4 slots available, recorded & livestreamed. These are to highlight
5-Minute Quick Ideas
→ Lightning-fast talks for rapid inspiration, great for getting people excited about your technical ideas
Unconference Workshops (60–90 min)
→ Hands-on, interactive sessions running alongside talks. We have a huge space with room for 4 separate workshops!
Podcast Interviews
→ Optional interviews in our on-site recording studio, open 12:00–21:00
🏆 Audience Choice Award
The audience will vote for their favorite talk or workshop. The winner gets:
