Thank you for your interest in speaking at POSETTE: An Event for Postgres 2024 (formerly called Citus Con), organized by the Postgres team at Microsoft. POSETTE’s 4 unique livestreams are scheduled for Jun 11-13, 2024. Speakers will present their talks remotely for video pre-recordings which will be done in advance of the event—and may present in their own time zone. Please read on to learn more.

First time speakers & Experienced speakers are both welcome! If you are a first-time speaker and are not sure whether to submit, we encourage you to do so! And feel free to reach out for advice/guidance on the #posetteconf channel on our Discord (link below.)

Remote friendly, no travel required: Talks are pre-recorded remotely—all you need is a good internet connection, a decent webcam and microphone, some good light, and the talk. The organizers will take care of the pre-recording and video production of your talk.

Format & logistics of the event:

  • Talks will be 25 minutes long.
  • All talks will be in English.
  • All talks will be pre-recorded by the POSETTE team in advance of the event (with you presenting remotely.)
  • Pre-recordings will be scheduled for the weeks of May 13th and May 20th.
  • All pre-recorded talks will be livestreamed in one of the 4 livestreams on Jun 11-13.
  • Speakers will be asked to participate in the online text chat during the livestream of their talk on Jun 11-13.
  • Speakers will have the option (but are not required) to be on camera remotely during the livestream—to introduce the talk and answer a few questions at the end, time permitting.
  • All pre-recorded talks will be published online right after the livestreams, so your talk will be accessible to anyone with an internet connection.
  • Published talks will include high-quality captions for accessibility.

Topics: Here are some topics we hope you will propose during the CFP/CfS. By no means is this an exhaustive list! At a high level, we’re looking for talks about Postgres and the rich tooling and extensions (such as Citus, PostGIS, & more) in the Postgres ecosystem—as well as talks about Postgres in the cloud on Azure. Some examples:

  • How you run your app on Postgres on Azure
  • Open source user stories for Citus, PostGIS, & other extensions
  • New capabilities in PostgreSQL 16
  • Tips for building your application on Azure Database for PostgreSQL - Flexible Server
  • Postgres community
  • Generally interesting Postgres knowledge & tips
  • Data modeling and SQL best practices
  • How you use Postgres extensions
  • High availability techniques (including Patroni)
  • Distributing Postgres with Azure Cosmos DB for PostgreSQL
  • Benchmarking & performance tuning
  • Migrating to Postgres on Azure
  • Monitoring tools for Postgres
  • Optimizing for data-intensive analytics and time series workloads
  • Azure ecosystem integrations with Postgres
  • Running SaaS apps built with Ruby, Python, Node.js, Java, or .NET—and running on Postgres
  • Using Postgres with Python and Django applications
  • Supporting AI-based workloads with Postgres
