Conference Theme: Igniting Growth

Igniting Growth is the theme for our 2024 Annual Conference event. Our focus is on Igniting growth, specifically growth in the Agile discipline across industries. Just as a tree needs the right conditions, nourishment, and care to flourish and reach its full potential, businesses must cultivate the right environment and strategies to foster growth in the Agile discipline.

Igniting Growth is not a one-size-fits-all concept; specific strategies and tactics can be employed. Bearing in mind the dependency on the industry, market conditions, and unique challenges a business may be facing. It often involves a combination of approaches, skillsets and a continuous commitment to innovation and improvement.

Leveraging Agile Values, Principles and practices to drive innovation, improve customer satisfaction, and optimise operations will ultimately lead to sustained growth and competitiveness in today's dynamic landscape.

We’d like to understand new innovations in the agile space and challenge the status quo, whilst still covering the basics and focusing on the underlying principles.

Igniting Growth serves as the guiding theme for our conference, representing our strong desire to nurture potential and foster success. Much like the process of planting a seed that eventually grows into a towering tree, our theme embodies the essence of transformation, progress, and success.

We want to be sure:

Your proposal supports our theme – Igniting Growth – and that it contributes depth (or breadth) to the community’s discussions

You can comfortably deliver what you’re proposing, regardless of whether you are well known or a first-timer on the conference speaking scene

People will be excited and intrigued to attend your session

People will get something of value from the time spent in your session

You don’t need to achieve all the points above, but if you don’t hit at least a few of them, you need to give it more thought.

How to get rejected:

  • Include a same-old, same-old topic or approach (unless there’s a new twist or a truly deep experience base)
  • Include thinly-veiled (or unveiled) marketing or promotion of services
  • Your submission’s golden thread and “Why?” is difficult to follow or understand
  • It does not appear that an adequate level of effort was involved in your submission
  • Include specific personally-identifying information (name, company you work for) in the body of the submission – please do not do this – we follow a blind review and selection process (we hide names of people submitting in the system, so that the selection process is free from bias)
  • Your submission doesn’t address any of the topic tracks outlined below

In addition to the above guidelines, please take a look at two past examples of good submissions for a talk and workshop respectively.

Our Topic Tracks

For additional information on the Topic Tracks as well as guidelines and FAQs for the submission process, please refer to this webpage

In line with our theme as described above, our topics include, but not limited to, the following:

Branching Out - Expanding the Horizons

Branching Out is a program track exploring how Agile principles can extend beyond IT. It helps individuals and organisations embrace agility in new contexts, including remote work, fostering innovation. This track encourages participants to broaden their horizons, applying Agile thinking beyond IT. Like tree branches seeking sunlight, Agile methodologies can catalyse growth and efficiency in various domains. 'Branching Out' empowers the exploration of new avenues, promoting growth, adaptability, and innovation. It's a journey towards a more agile, collaborative future where growth has no limits."

Trunk to Triumph - Cultivating Resilience for Lasting Success

"In the pursuit of growth and success, individuals and organisations encounter challenges and setbacks. 'Trunk to Triumph' is a program track focusing on resilience, inspired by the sturdy tree trunk. It equips participants with the skills and mindset to overcome adversity, bounce back from setbacks, and thrive in challenging circumstances. Just as a tree's trunk supports growth despite external pressures, this track empowers individuals and organisations to emerge victorious amid life's challenges, fostering lasting success."

Roots of Success - Nurturing the Fundamentals for Growth

In the dynamic world of personal and business development, we often get drawn to the latest trends and cutting-edge technologies. However, real and lasting growth often begins by going back to basics. "Roots of Success" is a track in our program that honours the fundamental principles behind success in agility, methodologies, organisational dynamics, leadership, and work culture. This track encourages participants to rekindle and reinforce the core elements that serve as the foundation for progress and agility.
