We’re excited to announce that the call for talks for Virtual R/Pharma 2026 is now open !!
Talks are short (10-20 minutes) high energy presentations that give you the chance to talk about an interesting project that you’ve tackled with R or Python in Pharma. Short talks, or demos of your R/Python code, R/Stan/Julia packages, and Shiny apps are great options.
We are particularly interested in submissions that have one or more of these qualities:
Examples of how Shiny is used for interactive reporting for late-stage work
Showcase the use of Open Source for drug discovery and development
Use of Open Source with AI/LLMs in Pharma
Applications from smaller Pharma companies / biotechs / clinical trials in general (including academia)
Combining R with other languages and tools, such as Python and Julia
Reporting/Communication using R Markdown, Quarto, Shiny, ggplot2, or something else altogether
Discussions on how to teach R/data science effectively in Pharma
Talks on administering R in Pharma and tackling scaling, packages, cloud, HPC etc.
Parallel Sessions
For the first time, R/Pharma is expanding its horizon beyond clinical and discovery to include a dedicated track for CMC, Process & Analytical Development. As the industry shifts toward "Digital CMC," the need for reproducible data science, robust statistical modeling, and automated reporting in manufacturing and quality control has never been greater.
Additionally, we are adding a dedicated Python track to complement the event’s R focus and reflect how open-source in Pharma is evolving. Python has become a core language for end-to-end data work, from data ingestion and wrangling to scalable modeling, automation, and production-grade deployment.
We are in Asia-Pacific too! In an effort to be more globally-inclusive, R/Pharma will again be hosting presentations in Asia-Pacific time zones. When submitting a talk please note the checkbox related to presenting in the relevant time zone.
A few important tips
Don't be shy: We are particularly interested in talks from people who cannot usually make it in-person events or are newer to conference speaking. R/Pharma committee members are offering free speaker coaching: as long as you have an interesting R/Pharma idea and are willing to put in some work, we’ll help you develop a great talk.
There are lots of opportunities: If we have so many great submissions that we can't schedule them all in the live program we'll endeavor to include them in on-demand, pre-recorded talks. In addition, we'll be hosting an expo so you can show off your awesome open source contributions (more details to follow).
