Red Team Village is back at DefCon for another year! 

This year Red Team Village is building on last year. Due to the success of the debut of “tactics” last year we are going to be putting an emphasis on expanding our tactics offerings. That being said, we are still planning to offer “workshops”, our more traditional conference presentation-style speaking engagement, however we are planning to require workshops to include a tactic alongside of it. 

Please keep in mind that due to having less time slots, and less stage space, workshops will be more selective.

Workshops

The more traditional “conference” speaking engagement. You stand in front of a group of people and present your research/presentation. The goal for these is to give someone the stage to present their hard work and knowledge. The time slots are 30 minutes or 60 minutes. We plan to have less of these, so acceptance will be difficult. Where we want it to differ from your standard conference talk, is to give the attendees the opportunity to sit down with you and get their hands on what you talked about, therefore a workshop will need a tactic to go alongside it.

Example:

• Workshop: My New Mythic Agent - How I developed it, Its capabilities, its use case
• Tactic: Hands on with My New Mythic Agent - Attendees can work through installing, deploying and operating with my Mythic Agent

Tactics

Debuted at DefCon 33 Red Team Village. These are hands-on activities, labs, and learning sessions in a smaller, more intimate setting. The speaker is set up at a table with 10-15 attendees and works through the tactic with them. This gives the speaker the chance to work with and answer questions from the attendees and truly get the opportunity to share their knowledge. The goal is to have a tactic that can be completed in 30 mins to an hour. The speaker will have the option of a 2 hour or greater slot (entirely dependent on how long you would like to work with the community, however we do request that you give time to run through the tactic a few times to give multiple “waves” of attendees the chance to participate.

• Example: Mythic Operations - Attendees can work through using mythic with someone who operates on it on assessments

Dates and Times

The village will be open and hosting tactics and workshops at the following times:

• Friday, August 7th from 11am - 6pm PT
• Saturday, August 8th from 10am - 6pm PT
• Sunday, August 9th from 10am - 1pm PT

• By submitting you agree that you will in no way sell or charge attendees for your tactic or workshop
• If any materials are required for your talk or workshop you agree to provide these materials to attendees
