About SeaQL – Brouwersdam 2027

SeaQL is where SQL Server pros, data engineers, DBAs, and DevOps-minded techies come together for a full day of practical learning, deep conversations, and community vibes, with the North Sea and the Grevelingen as our backdrop.

This free, community-powered event is all about sharing knowledge and solving real problems. Expect sessions packed with practical takeaways, stories from the trenches, and strategies that actually work in the real world.

Our content is laser-focused on:

  • SQL Server
  • Database Administration
  • Database DevOps
  • Performance, stability, and automation
  • ...and the tools, teams, and mindset needed to tie it all together.

Whether you're a seasoned architect, a curious DBA, or someone who just built their first pipeline, you’ll find people here who speak your language and probably want to grab coffee with you after the last session.

Who’s Behind This?

If you’ve been to a SQL or DevOps event before, chances are you’ve run into Tonie Huizer or Peter Kruis. These two live and breathe community, and they’re teaming up once again to bring SeaQL back for its 3rd edition, this time bigger, sharper, and again with a side of sea air.

Call for Speakers – SeaQL 2027

SeaQL Saturday returns for its next edition on April 15-16, 2027, and this time, we’re going bigger, deeper and more hands-on than ever before. We’re expanding the program with both regular and deep-dive conference sessions and a select number of workshops (trainingsday).

SeaQL Saturday focuses on one thing: the craft of working with databases in a DevOps-driven world. That means our program is centered around Database Administration (DBA) and Database DevOps, the topics that too often get sidelined, but are absolutely critical to modern data platforms.

If you’re solving hard problems in these spaces or helping others do so: we want to hear from you!

What We're Looking For

Regular Sessions (60 minutes) and Deep Dives (120 minutes)

We love focused, practical talks that attendees can apply right away. Ideal topics include:

Database Administration (DBA / Development)

  • Advanced performance tuning for SQL Server
  • Backup, restore & disaster recovery: tested under fire
  • Monitoring complex systems at scale
  • Security, compliance, and governance in real life
  • Automation and scripting for busy DBAs
  • High availability and platform resilience

Database DevOps

  • CI/CD pipelines for SQL Server and other data platforms
  • Schema versioning, drift detection, and release control
  • DevOps tools: what works, what hurts, and why
  • Bridging the gap between dev and ops teams – especially database focussed!
  • Testing strategies for data-driven systems
  • Real-world case studies and lessons learned

If it’s technical, practical, and makes a DBA or database engineer’s life better—we want it.

Trainingsday

These are half/full-day workshops for attendees who want to roll up their sleeves and dive in. Ideal formats include live demos, labs, collaborative exercises, or real-world walkthroughs.

Precon perks:

  • Flat fee: €500 — covers up to 5 attendees for a full day
  • Flat fee: €250— covers up to 5 attendees for a half day
  • Additional attendees: €150 per person for each attendee beyond 5 for a full day
  • Additional attendees: €75 per person for each attendee beyond 5 for a half day

Minimum registrations: Event may be canceled if fewer than 5 registrations are confirmed 6 weeks prior to the event.

Why Speak at SeaQL 2027?

  • A program 100% focused on SQL Server, DBA work, and Database DevOps
  • A high-energy, supportive, community-driven environment
  • A great mix of seasoned pros and rising talent in the audience
  • And yes… our event mascot, SeaQL Sammie 🐶, will be there again!

Whether you’ve automated your way out of weekend work, survived a production fire, or coached a team through DevOps transformation, your experience matters.
