So what is Sql Friday?

Sql Friday is a weekly, 60-ish minute long presentation, running at noon Central European Time. People join via Teams and the presentations are recorded and later published to YouTube.

Presentations take place in Teams and invitations are sent out via Meetup - https://meetup.com/sql-friday.

Please note the time: Sql Friday happens on Fridays at noon Central European Time.

Which topics can I speak about?

Sql Friday is about Sql Server. So you can present anything Sql Server related. It can be "What Sql Server options are available in Azure and AWS" and it can be very in-depth technical sessions like "What the heck is this Eager Spool operator all about?" As long as it's about Sql Server, it's on-topic for Sql Friday.

You also accept that the presentation is recorded and will be available on YouTube later on.

Session submissions

You may submit up to three session abstracts.

When submitting your abstract, please select ALL the dates you are available to present. That makes scheduling of Sql Friday so much easier.

The presentation does _not_ need to be unique for Sql Friday, but if you can tweak it somehow so that it's not 100% the same as an already existing recording of your presentation, it'll add some bonus points for evaluation :)

Lightning Talks!

This season, we're also doing Lightning Talks. A Lightning Talk is a ten minute presentation. We will do at least one Lightning Tak Friday. If we get many Lightning Talk submissions, we will do more, but at least one.

Diversity matters

SQL Friday is for everyone who is interested in SQL Server. Everyone. That’s a lot of people. Yet, in some of the previous seasons, the speaker line-up have not reflected this. Therefore, I want to make clear that diversity will be a very important factor when I do session selection. Some people call this “positive discrimination”. I’m not at all a fan of that word, because I don’t intend to discriminate anyone. But I will look at not only the session abstract, but also at the speaker’s background, experience etc. Chances are, I will even approach some speakers and ask them for help to make the speaker line-up reflect the community SQL Friday is intended for. Everyone.
