Join fellow OpenStreetMap enthusiasts in Salt Lake City June 6 to 8 for State of the Map US 2024! State of the Map US is the largest gathering of OpenStreetMap community members from across the country and we would love for you to join us.
This year's event—at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City—will bring together hundreds of people from private companies, humanitarian organizations, government agencies, academia, and the technology sector to learn about new map technology and share ideas.
We are calling on all members of the OpenStreetMap community to share your ideas and session proposals for the 12th State of the Map US. Whether you are brand new to OSM or a core contributor, we want to hear from you. Do you want to host a workshop to share your mapping or technical expertise with fellow mappers? Are you interested in discussing an OpenStreetMap-related topic in depth with like-minded folks? Do you want to do an outdoor mapping event? Let us know!
The program will include space for featured speakers, panels, 15 minute talks, 5 minute lightning talks, workshops, and birds of a feather topics. There’s even room for improvisational sessions and outdoor activities. Our goal is to not only feature speakers but also include more time for organic participation from all attendees.
This year we’ll be celebrating OpenStreetMap in The Great Outdoors! Whether you’re helping improve data for trails in our national parks, leading local events to collect sidewalk data in NYC, or improving the availability of open imagery through drone capture, we’re looking to celebrate all of the reasons OpenStreetMap and open geospatial get us outdoors. And there’s no better place to celebrate mapping the great outdoors than Salt Lake City, Utah!
This project is powered by a diversity of projects and innovations outside of this theme that we also want to hear about. Therefore, we are also inviting proposals about anything OpenStreetMap, including but not limited to:
Don’t worry if your idea doesn’t fit neatly in these categories. Please submit it anyway and surprise us!
Need some inspiration? Check out past year’s talks all findable via the OSM US website.
