The Repair Summit

event date

28 Nov 2026

location

Dublin, Ireland

The Repair Conference is a dedicated knowledge-sharing and skills-building event bringing together repair café facilitators, repair experts, makers and repair enthusiasts from across Ireland. The conference creates space for both the practical and the visionary — from the nuts and bolts of running a successful repair café to the bigger picture of embedding repair culture at the heart of Ireland's green transition.

Participants will leave better equipped to establish and sustain repair initiatives in their communities, with concrete guidance on everything from venue sourcing, insurance and funding to volunteer management, visitor coordination and repair workflows. Alongside the organisational, the conference will offer hands-on insight into repairing electronics, mechanical objects, furniture and clothing — building confidence and competence across skill levels.

The event also serves as a space for connection: strengthening ties between experienced and emerging repair organisers, makers and community organisations, and fostering the kind of peer exchange that helps repair culture take root and grow.

Our strategic goals for the conference are to:

  • Support the development and expansion of repair cafés across Ireland
  • Build practical repair skills and confidence among participants
  • Strengthen collaboration across the repair, maker and community sectors
  • Promote repair as a core sustainability and circular economy practice
  • Identify the supports and structures needed to sustain community repair initiatives long-term
  • Foster meaningful knowledge exchange between experienced and emerging repair organisers

We are now inviting proposals for sessions, workshops and talks that speak to these goals, under two strands: Fixing Things and Making it Happen.

Fixing Things is all about the hands on skills involved in repairing items - whether that is how to take a kettle apart, how to reupholster a chair or how to put the lining back on a bag. Making it Happen is all about the work that goes on behind the scenes to put a repair café on - everything from finding a venue, finding funding to insurance and logistics.

Whether you have expertise in a particular repair skill, experience running a community repair initiative, or insights into the policy and funding landscape for repair, we want to hear from you.
