Codegarden is the biggest international Umbraco conference in the world. It is also the only Umbraco conference that’s organized by Umbraco HQ - the company behind Umbraco CMS.
We want Codegarden to be a great experience for developers, creatives, and business owners alike.
The goal of the conference is to give current and future Umbracians from all around the world the chance to connect, share ideas, and attend great sessions which range from general topics to niche technical, and business talks.
Who can be next on the Codegarden stage?
We want to see the best and broadest Codegarden program ever, and for that, we need your ideas and input. We want to hear from developers, designers, and the business side of Umbraco. So no matter if you have a great technical session targeting developers, a creative session targeting designers, or a case-study targeting the business audience, then Codegarden could be the stage to present it on.
Past speakers at Codegarden - Roles include but are not limited to:
What topics can be featured in Codegarden?
Your talk targets .NET developers, DevOps with a strong focus on code and the technical part of working with Umbraco. The talk delves into Umbraco and will give any developer an edge in the fast-moving world of the friendly CMS.
Your talk targets web designers and web developers. The audience can expect design-focused talks that might contain HTML, JavaScript, or CSS, but none (or very little) .NET code.
Your talk targets sales, marketing and project managers that might have little or no technical background. The presentation is focused on case-studies and enhancing client communication.
Your talk focuses on learning experiences and sharing ideas and stories that are engaging, inspiring and thought-provoking. The talk can cover career stories that inspire the audience and leave them with practical and actionable takeaways.
We welcome new ideas that you have for a talk you believe would be a great fit for Codegarden’s audience. There are, however, talks that we are unable to include in the program as they are not aligned with the conference goals:
How do we select the speakers?
We have a panel of reviewers with different backgrounds and perspectives. The proposals are presented anonymously to the reviewers, who then rate each submission and add a comment. Once the review is finished, the next phase starts by discussing the top-rated proposals. The decision is made based on the time slots available and the diversity of the topics.
As much as we want to accept as many proposals as possible, we are not always able to confirm a time slot for each of the proposals that received a positive review.
What format does the presentation have?
The sessions are planned to be 25 minutes long and do not include Q&A.
All speakers will be invited to follow up during Ask The Speaker sessions where they can interact with attendees with the help of a moderator.
Codegarden2022 will be a hybrid event. We hope all speakers can join us in-person, in Denmark but joining virtually is also an option.
When can I expect to hear back from you?
How many proposals can I submit?
I might need help with my proposal. Can Umbraco help?
We sure can. Join us in a dedicated workshop to spend some time working with experienced speakers generating and honing ideas for topics and looking at how best to represent those on the Call for Speakers form. We’ll take you through tips, help you find your niche and send you on your way with a pep talk that should give you all the momentum you need to apply to be a speaker.
You don't need to be new to speaking to join; the only requirement is that you'd like to submit a talk. Make sure to book a spot.
Diversity pledge
We believe that a diverse environment fosters creativity, knowledge sharing, and innovation. In recent years, we have been actively seeking to increase the diversity of the Codegarden attendees and speakers through the active support of a diverse speaker lineup and offering diversity scholarships.
In this year’s event, we aim to feature speakers from different backgrounds, genders, and geographic locations in addition to a variety of organizations. We encourage people from all backgrounds, abilities, and experiences to submit their proposals.
Some practical information for your submission
Umbraco HQ handles the hotel booking and invites the speakers to arrange their travel plans. Detailed guidelines are shared with the speakers once the sessions have been confirmed.
