UX Y’all is the annual conference hosted by the Triangle UXPA, a North Carolina chapter of the User Experience Professionals Association.

Theme

The Breaks: Breakpoints, putting on the brakes (homophones encouraged), getting a lucky break... whether it broke by accident or by design, it’s fair game. Because – in the words of the great Kurtis Blow – these are the breaks! Break it up, break it up, break it up!

Example topics might include: break-ups, breakdowns, break-ins, breakouts, breakthroughs, media breakpoints... you get the idea.

Free for speakers: All speakers and co-speakers will receive a complimentary ticket to UX Y'all. (Travel expenses will not be covered.)

INSTRUCTIONS

Please read the following before submitting your proposal.

  • Deadline: June 20, 2023. No late submissions will be considered.
  • Blind review process: Do not include any identifying information in your session description. Avoid using speaker names, companies, products, email addresses, or affiliation statuses. We strive for a diverse body of presenters, so do optionally include requested information on speaker diversity if you'd like that to be considered in the selection process.
  • Review timeline: Sessions will be evaluated after the Call for Speakers closes, and speakers will be notified of decisions as soon as possible.
  • Editing your session: If you need to make changes to your submission, please email alana.matos@triuxpa.org by the deadline. After the deadline has passed, you cannot change the proposal.
  • Submission limit: No more than 2 submissions per person please. (This includes being a second speaker or panelist in another session.)
  • Location priority: Some priority will be given to local speakers.
  • In-person presentation: All speakers will present in-person.
  • Theme fit: Submissions will be evaluated for overall quality, relevance to UX as a profession, fit with community needs, and theme.


Session Formats:

  • Presentation (45 mins): Share ideas and experiences related to UX or other relevant, controversial, or emerging issues.
  • Panel (45 mins): Present ideas and experiences in groups of 3-5 people with a session moderator.
  • Workshop (45 mins): Demonstrate a research or design technique with audience participation.
  • Lightning Talk (10 mins): Speak on something short and informative.
  • Out of the Box (45 mins): Surprise us!
